Polytek PT Flex 50 Flexible Polyurethane
Polytek's polyurethane casting resin is of high quality.
This is a 2-component polyurethane that quickly hardens into a sturdy rubber. This polyurethane rubber is perfect for molding decorative pieces, production parts, tools, models, etc.
Due to the somewhat bright yellow/amber color, this polyurethane can be easily colored with polyurethane dyes.
Processing
The model or mold in which PT Flex 50 is processed must not be porous and must not contain sulphur. So be careful with (dried) clay, etc. If the model is porous or contains sulfur, it is best to seal it with shellac or another good sealing sealer. If the product is only porous, PVA or normal paints will also suffice.
After applying a pore filler or lacquer, a release agent must also be applied. This is especially necessary on Shellac. But a release agent must also be applied to unsealed products. Preferably a release spray .
Test thoroughly whether the mold or shape (after sealing and release agent) does indeed go together with this polyurethane.
Make sure component A and component B are both at room temperature (20-25°C) and the ambient temperature above 16 ° C, during the entire process including curing time.
Stir the B-component in the packaging beforehand.
Mix with a spatula in a clean mixing bowl, as mechanical mixing can create a lot of air. Carefully scrape sides of mixing bowl while stirring.
Pour as soon as possible after stirring. DO NOT scrape sides of pitcher while pouring.
Let the product harden at room temperature and de-mould after the de-mould time. Final properties are reached after 7 days, as with most room temperature polyurethanes.
To clean
Wipe tools before the product has hardened. Use ethanol as a solvent, but be aware of flammability. Wax surfaces to keep workspaces clean.
