This Polyurethane is perfect for making stretchable, tear-resistant molds for plaster, cement and concrete.
A polyurethane casting system consisting of an A and B component. This casting system is characterized by its quality and ease of use. The system is perfect for small flexible castings and tear-resistant molds. Polyurethane is usually more resistant to wear than silicone, but is more sensitive to UV and temperature.
- Amber colored two-piece system
- Permanently elastic
- Can be poured up to a layer thickness of 60 mm. Please pour only a small volume if you want to work that thick!
- Can be demolded after 15 to 18 hours
- Good tear resistance and high elongation
Technical data
- Mixing ratio by weight: A:B = 100:50
- Processing time at 25°C*: 28-34 minutes
- De-moulding time at 25°C: 15-18 hours
- Density: 1.05 g/cm³
- Linear shrinkage: <0.1%
- Stretch: 1000%
- Hardness: Shore A 18-22
*For 100 grams. Larger quantities and higher temperatures result in a much shorter processing time. Do not process too much material at once!
Processing
Stir/shake both components in their original packaging well before use, to distribute the fillers well. Only process the PU when it is at room temperature (20 to 25°C). Work in a dry room at room temperature. Do not use wooden spatulas. Process the product in a room above 15°C.
Pour components A and B together and mix thoroughly. Pour the mixed product into the mould at a constant rate, taking care not to entrap air. Excessive heat development in castings of more than 20 mm thickness (or large volumes) can be avoided by pouring several successive layers (allowing the layer to harden before pouring the next). Wait until the indicated time has elapsed before demoulding. The thermal and mechanical properties will develop rapidly. Final specifications will only be achieved after 7 days.
Important
The moisture absorbers in these products may settle, requiring remixing before use. This can be accomplished by vigorously shaking the packaging before use.
The less filler you add, the greater the heat development of the casting and the less thick you can pour in one go. Use a mixing bucket with a large surface area to maximize processing time.
The mixing ratio is very important. With a deviation of more than 3% you cannot achieve the given specifications. Therefore, especially with small quantities, use a very precise scale (gram scale accurate to 2 points after the decimal point).
Shelf life
The polyurethane casting system should be stored in a dry place between 6–28°C the expiration date, which assumes storage within the specified conditions, is indicated on the packaging. Opened packages should be processed as soon as possible to ensure product quality. The normal shelf life is 6 months.
