Phenyl functional silicones

Phenyl functional silicones are well suited for applications where heat stability and use in hot baths are important. Their unique chemical structure provides excellent heat resistance and stability at high temperatures, making them ideal for use in hot baths and other applications where heat resistance is required.

These liquids are therefore also used in heat baths, also known as heat transfer baths.

The liquid has good resistance to high temperatures and good fluidity.

This type of silicone is also often used as liners/release in food molds and packaging for higher temperatures.

Phenyl functional silicones have a wide range of applications, in addition to their use in heat stability and heat transfer baths. Here are some more examples:

  1. Electronics and Electrical Insulation : Due to their excellent thermal stability and electrical insulating properties, phenyl functional silicones are used in electronic components, as protective coatings and as insulating materials.

  2. Automotive Industry : They are used in engine oil additives, transmission oil and other lubricants because of their heat resistance and resistance to oxidation. They contribute to the durability and performance of vehicles.

  3. Textile Industry : Phenyl functional silicones are used as water-repellent and stain-resistant treatments for textiles. They also improve the suppleness and feel of fabrics without affecting their breathability.

  4. Industrial Maintenance : They serve as antifoam agents in industrial processes and as lubricants for heavy machinery where high temperatures and stable performance are required.

  5. Coatings and Paints : For their gloss enhancing properties and durability, phenyl functional silicones are added to coatings and paints to create a smooth, glossy finish that is resistant to wear and decay.

  6. Cleaning products : They are used in cleaners and polishes because of their ability to leave a protective, shiny layer on surfaces.

  7. Adhesives and Sealants : Phenyl functional silicones are used in adhesives and sealants for applications requiring long-term elasticity, heat and UV resistance.

These versatile silicones improve the performance and durability of products in a variety of industries and applications.

Phenyl functional silicones are also used in cosmetics and skin care products due to their unique properties. They give a beautiful shine and improve the texture of products such as color cosmetics, shampoos, conditioners and sunscreens. These silicones provide a silky, non-sticky finish and are compatible with many organic ingredients. In addition, they provide excellent protection against oxidation and improve hair manageability.

Nice to know

The phenyl group ensures that the polymer chain cannot easily twist into a helix shape.

If a chain ends up in a helical shape, it breaks down more easily at high temperatures.
