Wacker T40 tin catalyst for condensation silicone
This hardener works on all condensation silicones. This T40 hardener from Wacker, allows the normal condensation silicones to harden a little faster to a generally usable silicone rubber. This T40 can be used with all condensation hardening silicones and is mainly intended by Wacker for the Elastosil M 4400, M 4440 and M 4470. This B component is also available in a paste tube.
Processing
The condensation hardening silicone can be easily mixed by hand or machine. Mix the A and B components carefully and in the specified ratio.
T40 mixture = 2 to 3%, so for 100 grams of A component you use 2 to 3 grams of Wacker T40 hardener (B component).
You can use 0.5% less or more hardener. If you use less hardener, the curing takes longer and air bubbles have more time to escape. Be careful not to use too little hardener, because then the silicone may not harden (properly). With more hardener, the curing will go faster, so the mold is ready sooner. The disadvantage is that the mold will also age sooner and will shrink more.
Process the mixture within the pot life (processing time) and never mix more than you can process within the pot life. Wait to demould until the whole has completely hardened.
Please note: Potlife (processing time) and de-moulding time are strongly dependent on the mixing ratio and humidity! When adding more silicone B (hardener) or at higher humidity the potlife and de-moulding time will be shorter!
Ironing, spreading or spatulating
If you want to spread/spat/irone the silicone onto something, you can add Thixo C (0.6%-2%) (usually 1%). Thixo C is a thickener and makes it possible to spread the silicone. You should take into account that the mold must be provided with a support cap in this case. This support cap can consist of plaster bandage, an epoxy support cap, or acrylic resin with thickener and glass fabric /
Shelf life
Provided the silicone is stored in a closed container, cool and frost-free, the shelf life is at least 1 year.
Safety requirements
Wear splash goggles, suitable liquid-tight gloves, an apron and work in a well-ventilated area. See Safety Data Sheet for more information
