Moisture-curing one-component polyurethane resin for sealers, coatings and primers
BECKOCOAT® PU 428/51XMPAC from allnex is a light-stabilised, oil-free, moisture-curing one-component polyurethane resin, supplied as a 51 % solution in xylene and methoxypropyl acetate. The resin cures with atmospheric moisture to form a hard, hard-wearing film with good adhesion to a range of substrates. Viscosity is 290 to 590 mPa·s, density 1.03 g/cm³ and flash point 32 °C. You can use BECKOCOAT PU 428 for floor sealers, wood coatings, concrete impregnation and as a primer, among other things.
⚠️ Mandatory training for professional use
BECKOCOAT PU 428 is a polyurethane resin that may cause respiratory sensitisation (H334). Since 24 August 2023, products containing more than 0.1 % diisocyanates may only be used industrially or professionally by staff who have completed the mandatory training on the safe use of diisocyanates (REACH Annex XVII, entry 74).

Application
- Make sure the substrate is clean, dry and sound.
- Apply the resin very thinly by brush or roller for good adhesion and a bubble-free result. As a primer under GRP, allow approx. 250 grams per m²; highly absorbent substrates may need several coats.
- At 20 °C, 50 % relative humidity and a film thickness of 200 µm, the coat is dust-free after approx. 40 minutes, tack-free after approx. 180 minutes, strong and workable after 24 hours and fully cured after 7 days. Lower temperatures or humidity extend these times.
- Apply the next coat after 6 to 8 hours at room temperature.
- Do not leave more than 24 hours between coats, or between the last coat and the material applied on top (such as polyester). After that, adhesion is insufficient.
- Thin if needed with a suitable thinner such as xylene or white spirit.
Points to note
- ✓ For industrial or professional use only.
- ✓ The resin contains solvents and is flammable (flash point 32 °C). Work in a well-ventilated area, wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate and keep away from sources of ignition.
- ✓ The resin reacts with moisture. Reseal opened containers tightly straight away.
- ✓ Shelf life at least 365 days in the original packaging at a maximum of 25 °C.
