Polyurethane Casting Resin (Shore D)
Fast fast-cast PU D70–D80 PU for models & parts
Discover PU casting resins for precise, wear-resistant castings: fast-cast polyurethane (D70–D80), 1:1 PU systems , and clear, low-viscosity polyurethane casting resins with sharp detail. Ideal for molds, prototypes, replicas, and small-volume parts.
⚠️ Please note (Diisocyanates & Training)
Since August 2023, polyurethane with a diisocyanate content > 0.1% may only be processed by companies whose employees have completed the required training. Ensure proper training/certification before starting, in accordance with EU regulations.
Why choose PU casting resin (Shore D 70–80)?
- ✓ Fast curing (Fast-Cast): shorter cycle times and quick disassembly
- ✓ Low viscosity: flows beautifully in fine details; easy degassing
- ✓ Shore D stiffness: plastic-like strength and dimensional stability
- ✓ Wear and impact resistant: suitable for dynamically loaded components
- ✓ Widely applicable: molds, models, technical parts and decor

Shore D 70–80: when do you choose which hardness?
Shore D ~70 (Fast PU Casting Resin)
- Best choice for short cycles and fine details
- Nice compromise between stiffness and toughness
Shore D ~80 (Precision & Dimensionally Stable)
- For dimensionally stable technical components
- Ideal for tight tolerances and replicas
Casting thickness, mixing ratio & fillers
- Casting thickness : Fast PUs are often produced in steps; systems like D70 can be cast up to approximately 40 mm with filler. D80 with filler is suitable for technical thicknesses (check TDS).
- → Mixing ratio: choose 1:1 for simplicity (Fast Cast 160) or system-specific; always weigh accurately and mix homogeneously
- Fillers : Use microballoons, mineral, or metal powders for mass, strength, or effect. Sometimes increases the maximum layer thickness and reduces exotherm.
Processing tips for 2-component polyurethane resin
- → Dry and dust-free working: moisture causes foam reactions and porosity
- → Weigh and mix accurately: include edges/bottom; respect pot life
- → Degassing & pouring: pour slowly, in layers if necessary; use a suitable release agent
- → Post-treatment: fully harden before post-processing (drilling/milling/painting)
- → Safety: PPE, ventilation and diisocyanate training required where applicable
FAQ - Polyurethane casting resin (Shore D)
What is the difference between Fast-Cast PU and standard PU casting resin?
Fast-Cast systems have a shorter pot life and faster disassembly, ideal for small to medium-sized parts and high-volume production.
When do I choose clear polyurethane casting resin?
If optics or design are important (transparency, depth effect) or if you want to incorporate inlays and light/colour accents.
Can I add fillers?
Yes. The right filler can reduce exotherm, increase layer thickness, and influence properties (weight, stiffness, appearance). Always stay within the TDS limits.
