A polyurethane or PU casting system consisting of 2 components and an optional filler. This casting system is characterized in particular by its quality and simplicity of use and very high impact resistance, even when processed at room temperature. The system is perfect for small castings, fixing molds, foundry models, replicas and prototypes.
Beige colored two or three piece system
Designed for fast, accurate castings with high impact strength
Can be poured up to a layer thickness of 40 mm, provided you use sufficient filler
Filler amount varies depending on application and can even be omitted completely
Can be demoulded after 10 hours (with mixture 1:1:3)
Can be mixed with up to 600% (of total weight) of filler
Technical data
Without filler
Mixing ratio: A:B = 1:1 Processing time at 20°C: 7 minutes Demoulding time at 20°C: 14 hours Density: 1.08 g/cm³ Linear shrinkage: 0.2% Maximum thickness per casting: 4-5 mm. Glass temperature: 67.5°C Hardness: Shore D 75 Tensile strength: 35 MPa Stretch: 5% Flexural strength: 50 MPa Flexural emodulus: 1,000 MPa Impact resistance:25 KJ/m² Impact resistance after post-curing for 8 hours at 80 oC: 50 KJ/m²
With filler
Mixing ratio: A:B:Filler = 1:1:3 Processing time at 20°C: 5 minutes Demoulding time at 20°C: 10 hours Density 1.6 g/cm³ Linear shrinkage: 0.2% Maximum thickness per casting: 30-40 mm. Glass temperature: 67.5°C Hardness: Shore D 85
Processing
Add half of the desired filler to the A component and the other half to the B component. Now mix the filler thoroughly with the components. You can of course skip this previous step if you do not wish to use filler. Pour the components together and mix well again. Pour the mixed product into the mold with a constant jet, being careful not to entrap any air. Excessive heat development in castings of more than 5 or 40 mm thickness can be prevented by pouring several successive layers (allow the layer to set before pouring the next one). Wait until the indicated time has elapsed before demoulding. The thermal and mechanical properties will develop quickly, but it is possible to improve the thermal behavior by "post-baking" the casting at a temperature of 80°C for 8 hours. DO NOT use an oven in which you want to prepare food later!
Important
The moisture absorbers in these products may settle, requiring remixing before use. This can be achieved by shaking the packaging intensively before use. The less filler you add, the greater the heat development of the casting and the less thick you can cast in one go. Use a large surface area mixing bucket to maximize pot life.
Shelf life
The polyurethane casting system should be stored in a dry place between 6–28°C. The expiration date, which assumes storage within the specified conditions, is indicated on the packaging. Opened packages must be processed as quickly as possible to ensure product quality. The normal shelf life is 6 months.
Safety requirements
Please note: these are chemical products. Handle it with care and adhere to the safety instructions as written below and on the safety sheets.
Use safety equipment such as liquid-tight gloves and splash goggles and sufficient ventilation. Always keep out of reach of children and do not allow children to work with it. Not even under supervision.
