Polyurethane Dyes
PU Dyes – Especially for Polyurethane Resin
Professional PU dyes and color pastes, optimized for polyurethane resins (casting systems, coatings, and flexible PU rubbers).
Reliable color reproduction, excellent processability and consistent results – from prototyping to series production.
Product types: Transparent dyes for clear PU, opaque pigment pastes for opaque colours and effect pigments for metallic and special finishes.
For: Professional users of polyurethane casting systems, PU rubbers, and elastomers who need consistent color results for prototyping, series production, and functional parts.
Key Benefits
- ✓ PU specifically designed for the reactivity and viscosity of 2K polyurethane
- ✓ Optimal compatibility mixes homogeneously with clear and filled PU systems
- ✓ Colourfast, high colour depth and retention of intensity during curing
- ✓ Professionally reproducible per batch for Shore A & Shore D
- ✓ Minimal impact on pot life within recommended dosage
Applications
- → Polyurethane castings decor, replicas and functional parts
- → PU rubbers & elastomer molds, dampers and flexible components
- → Prototyping & models rapid color validation in Fast-Cast systems
- → Coatings & finishing thin layers or in-mold coloring
Choose your finish: transparent, opaque or effect
Transparent dyes (clear)
Ideal for clear PU and depth effects with maximum transparency.
Dosage guideline: approx. 0.05–0.5% of total (depending on desired intensity).
Opaque pigment paste (covering)
Uniform, opaque colours without sheerness for complete coverage.
Dosage guideline: approx. 1–3% (max. ~5% unless TDS indicates otherwise).
Effect pigments
Metallic, pearl, fluorescent, or glow – for special effects and unique finishes.
Check particle size and compatibility with your PU system for optimal results.
Use & Dosage (Quick Guide)
Pre-diluting & Mixing
- → Preferably add colorant to the B component
- → Mix until completely homogeneous
- → Add component A and mix briefly again
Step by Step Work
- → Start low (test 0.1–0.3%)
- → Increase to desired shade
- → Overdose may affect pot life
Testing & Safety
- → Always make a small test casting
- → Color may vary slightly after curing
- → Consult TDS/SDS and work under ventilation
Tip for clear PU: For maximum transparency, choose dyes, degas where possible, and protect against UV with a finish/coat for long-lasting clarity.
Note: Always record weights for reproducibility of color mixtures.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much food coloring should I add?
As a guideline: dyes 0.05–0.5% and pigment paste 1–3% of the total. Build up slowly and test; always follow the product TDS for specific recommendations.
Does the dye affect the curing?
Within the recommended dosage, the effect is minimal. At high dosages, pot life may decrease or viscosity may increase, so follow the guidelines.
Can I mix colours?
Yes, that's possible. First, mix small amounts to a reference color and record the weights for reproducibility in future batches.
Are these dyes also suitable for epoxy or silicone?
This line is optimized for PU . For epoxy or silicone, we recommend the corresponding (epoxy or silicone) dyes for best compatibility and results.
