Which brand suits your application?
Mould making and prototyping
For moulds for casting resin, plaster, wax and concrete, choose from Wacker Elastosil, Polytek PlatSil and TinSil, Zhermack and Dow Silastic RTV 3481. Addition cure (platinum) silicones barely shrink and give the finest detail; condensation cure silicones are more economical and less sensitive to inhibition.
Special effects, prosthetics and skin effects
Soft gels and skin realistic silicones are available from Polytek (PlatSil Gel), CHT (True Skin) and Zhermack.
Food safe moulds
For chocolate, sugar work and baking moulds, choose a silicone with the right food contact compliance. The overview is under food safe silicones; each product states which declaration applies.
Industry, coatings and foam
CHT SilSo foams, Wacker technical silicones and Momentive Silopren coatings are intended for potting, sealing, foaming and surface treatment.
Raw materials for formulators
