How to make a perfect alginate impression
Prepare & Mix
- → Measure water (1:4), prepare mixing bowl and stirring paddle
- → Protect work area with foil or cloth
- → Add powder to water and mix quickly until smooth.
Casting & Curing
- → Fill bucket/mold and place hand/object
- → Do not move during gelling (for a few minutes)
- → Gel turns back to white as an indication
Demolding & Casting
- → Carefully remove the original
- → Pour plaster or casting stone directly for best results
- → Alginate is for single use only
Tip: Use cold to lukewarm water for longer processing time; warmer water shortens the pot life. Pour the final material as soon as possible after demolding.
