Polyurethane Foam
Polyurethane casting foam (2-Component PU Foam)
Professional polyurethane foam (also: PU foam / PUR foam ) for hand mixing and pouring . Choose between low density for lightweight filling or higher density for comfort and support. Ideal for filling cavities , making seat cushions , and creating props/models .
⚠️ Note (diisocyanates & training): Since August 2023, polyurethane with a diisocyanate content > 0.1% may only be processed by companies whose employees have completed the required training. Ensure you have the correct training/certification before starting, in accordance with EU regulations.
Why choose castable PU foam?
- ✓ Easy processing: 2-component, manual mixing and pouring into mould or cavity.
- ✓ Control over expansion & density: from light ( low density ) to comfort ( higher density ).
- ✓ Fills large volumes: perfect for large cavities and molded parts.
- ✓ Professional quality: consistent cell structure and reliable results.
Applications: filling cavities, cushions & creative shapes
Insulation & construction
- → Fill local cavities and shape parts for thermal/acoustic functions.
Furniture & comfort
- → Furniture foam (PU): seat cushions , pads and comfort elements.
Industry
- → Light but strong fillings in constructions and housings.
Creative & SFX
- → Props, cosplay & model making – form-free casting with flexible skin.
Choose the right density: low vs. higher
| Density | Properties | Typical deployment |
|---|---|---|
| Low density | Very light, high expansion, damping | Filling voids, light props, model core |
| Higher density | More support/comfort, firmer skin | Seat cushions, furniture components, sustainable props |
💡 Tip: Pour in one continuous stream; avoid air pockets by "wetting" the edges and corners. Work within the specified pot life.
Range of flexible polyurethane casting foam
PU Foam Flexible 50 – low density (liquid, pourable)
Flexible, low-density , high-expansion polyurethane casting foam . Mix by hand and pour into unheated cavities or molds .
- ✓ Ideal for: lightweight stuffing, props, model making.
- ✓ Properties: expanding PU foam (liquid), flexible cell structure.
- ✓ Use: mix 2-components precisely; pour in a thin stream.
PU Foam Flexible 280 – higher density (liquid, pourable)
Flexible, high-density PU foam for seat cushions , furniture applications, and durable props . Suitable for hand mixing and pouring.
- ✓ Ideal for: comfort, support and shape retention.
- ✓ Features: controlled expansion, consistent cell image.
- ✓ Use: Pour into cavities/molds; allow to foam and harden undisturbed.
2-Component: Manual mixing & pouring with control
- Preparation : Components at operating temperature; mold/cavity clean and dry.
- → Mixing: weigh exactly according to TDS; mix quickly and homogeneously (including the edges/bottom).
- Pouring : in one continuous stream; respect pot life and fill level due to expansion.
- → Post-treatment: allow to harden completely; do not process or coat until fully hardened.
- → Safety: Wear PPE and work ventilated; follow TDS/SDS and training requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions – Polyurethane Casting Foam (PU/PUR)
What is the difference between 2-component PU foam and 1K PU foam?
Two-component PU foam is pourable , reacts with the mixing of A and B, and provides controlled expansion and density. One-component PU foam (in a gun can) reacts with moisture and is intended for sealing/assembly – not for pouring applications.
Can I pour into molds?
Yes. Use a suitable mold (not heated), apply release agent if necessary, and pour in a thin stream. Allow for expansion space.
What density should I choose for seat cushions?
Choose a higher density (such as Flexible 280) for comfort, support, and durability; lower density (Flexible 50) is better for lightweight padding.
