This flexible polyurethane foam is perfect for seat cushions, props, and more. It can be processed by hand (or machine) and poured into unheated cavities or molds.
This is a polyurethane foam casting system consisting of an A and B component. The result is a compressible foam.
- Brownish
- Can be processed by hand
- To be used in unheated molds
- Good fluidity
- Suitable as:
- end product in industrial applications
- filling of flexible objects
Technical data
- Mixing ratio by weight: A:B = 100:34
- Mixing time at 20°C*: 20 seconds
- Starting time at 20°C*: 45 seconds
- Cured density: 280 kg/m³ (0.05 gram/cm³)
- Volume increase: 3.8 X
- Liquidity: 1,000 mPa s
*For 100 grams. Larger quantities and higher temperatures result in a much shorter processing time. Don't process too much material at once!
Processing
Stir/shake both components in their original packaging thoroughly before use to distribute the fillers evenly. Only use the PU at room temperature (20 to 25°C). Work in a dry place at room temperature. Do not use wooden spatulas. Use the product at room temperature around 20°C.
Pour components A and B together and mix thoroughly. Mixing is best achieved with a drill at 1000 RPM. Pour the mixed product into the mold at a steady stream, taking care not to entrap any air. Excessive heat buildup in large castings can be prevented by pouring multiple successive layers (allowing each layer to set before pouring the next). Wait until the indicated time has elapsed before demoulding. The thermal and mechanical properties will develop rapidly. Final specifications will only be achieved after 7 days.
Important
The moisture absorbers in these products can settle, requiring remixing before use. This can be achieved by shaking the packaging vigorously before use.
The less filler you add, the greater the heat generated by the casting and the less thickly you can pour it in one go. Use a mixing bucket with a large surface area to maximize processing time.
The mixing ratio is very important. If there's a deviation of more than 3%, you won't be able to meet the specified specifications. Therefore, especially for small quantities, use a very precise scale (gram scale accurate to 2 decimal places).
Shelf life
The polyurethane casting system should be stored in a dry place between 6–28°C. The expiration date, which assumes storage within the specified conditions, is indicated on the packaging. Opened packages should be used as soon as possible to ensure product quality. The normal shelf life is 6 months.
