Fast, strong polyurethane casting resin for moulds, models and prototypes
Ebalta SG 2000 L is a high-quality two-component polyurethane casting resin for fast, precise casting applications. The set consists of an A and a B component that you mix 1 : 1 by weight. The mixture is very low in viscosity (55 mPa·s unfilled) and cures quickly: you have 6 to 8 minutes of working time and can demould after 60 to 90 minutes when unfilled. Unfilled, you achieve Shore D 70 to 75. Combine the resin with filler (A : B : filler = 1 : 1 : 3) and you can cast up to 80 mm thick per pour and reach Shore D 80 to 85. The glass transition temperature is 89 °C. Whether you cast small series or back up a silicone mould: this resin delivers reliable results, fast and strong.
⚠️ Mandatory training for professional use
This product contains isocyanates. Since 24 August 2023, polyurethane with a diisocyanate content of more than 0.1 % may only be processed in industrial or professional use by employees who have completed the mandatory training on the safe use of diisocyanates (REACH Annex XVII, entry 74).
Companies can register their employees via safeusediisocyanates.eu or via the ISOPA online training. You will find more information on our page working safely with polyurethane and diisocyanates.
Key benefits
- Fast curing: demoulding time from 60 minutes (unfilled).
- Extra strong: Shore D 70 to 75 unfilled, Shore D 80 to 85 with filler.
- High temperature resistance: glass transition temperature 89 °C.
- Cast up to 80 mm thick: when using filler.
- Low shrinkage: 0.5 % unfilled and 0.1 % filled, for accurate dimensional stability.
- Flexible system: can be used with or without filler.
- Professional performance: reliable in every project.
Typical applications
- ✓ Moulds and prototypes with high detail reproduction
- ✓ Artworks, decorative pieces and replicas
- ✓ Backing up silicone moulds
- ✓ Technical castings up to 80 mm thick (with filler)
- ✓ Production of models and parts in small series
- ✓ Industrial models
Processing
- Stir or shake both components thoroughly before use. Fillers can settle.
- Mix the A and B components in a ratio of 1 : 1 by weight.
- Add filler if required in the ratio A : B : filler = 1 : 1 : 3.
- Mix vigorously and pour into the mould in a continuous stream. A wide mixing cup gives you a longer working time.
- Cast thick pieces in layers to prevent overheating. Unfilled, cast a maximum of 20 mm per pour; filled, a maximum of 80 mm.
- Let the casting cure: 60 to 90 minutes unfilled, approximately 180 minutes filled.
- Carefully remove the casting from the mould and let it cure further if needed.
