With the right additives, you can fine-tune your slurry precisely to your process: fewer air bubbles, better adhesion to the wax, a suspension that doesn't need continuous stirring, or a visible check on drying. Small amounts, big effect.
The base (binder and flour) can be found under binders and stucco & flour.
Which additive for what purpose?
- ✓Suspending agent (Shellspen) — keeps the flour in suspension, eliminating the need for continuous stirring. Mix it dry with the flour first, then combine it with the binder.
- ✓Defoamer (Burst) — makes stubborn air bubbles burst faster. Our Adbond binder already contains defoamer, so it's usually only needed for persistent foam.
- ✓Wetting agent (Victawet) — allows the slurry to flow better over the wax surface, especially useful for precision casting. This is also already included in our binder.
- ✓Drying indicator (Acid Yellow) — changes color during drying, so you can see at a glance when a layer is dry enough for the next.
⚠️ Please note regarding the drying indicator: this indicator is a salt and can therefore disrupt the stability of the slurry. Its use is optional and generally not recommended for beginners. If you want to monitor drying without risk, simply allow a layer to dry longer or use a moisture measurement.
