-
Suitable for hard but flexible molds
-
Excellent resistance to epoxy and polyurethane resins
Description
Platinum Silicone QM 272 is a two-component platinum addition silicone rubber that cures at room temperature. Its low viscosity makes this material easy to pour and allows it to deaerate during processing. A slight yellowish tint may develop over time, but the material is highly pigmentable.
The combination of ductility and strength makes QM 272 versatile. The material is ideal for casting candle molds, concrete molds, and architectural elements , as well as for manufacturing rubber rollers for transport applications.

⚠️ Please note: QM 272 hardens at room temperature, but to achieve the maximum hardness of 70 Shore A, a post-treatment of 1 hour at 150 °C is necessary.
Processing
The silicone can be mixed either manually or by machine . Carefully mix the components in a ratio of 100 parts A to 10 parts B (by weight) . Use the mixture within the specified pot life. For best results, we recommend curing for 1 hour at 150°C .
Important processing tips
As a platinum addition silicone, QM 272 can be inactivated (poisoned) by substances such as sulfur, nitrogen, amino compounds, and metal salts. These can be found in, among other things:
-
Latex gloves
-
Certain modeling clay (plastiline)
-
Varnishes and glues
-
Condensation silicone and 1-component silicone sealant
-
Natural rubber
-
3D printing materials (especially SLA resins)
If in doubt, it is recommended to do a small test or apply a protective PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) layer .
Shelf life
When stored in a closed container, cool and frost-free, the shelf life is at least 2 years .
Safety
When using regularly, it is recommended to wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated area . Always consult the safety data sheet for detailed instructions.
