Solid platinum silicone rubber for compression moulding technical rubber parts
Semsil HTV platinum silicone is a solid silicone rubber (HCR, High Consistency Rubber) with platinum cure. You do not pour it; you vulcanise it under pressure in a heated mould. You can choose from three hardnesses: Shore A 40 (Semsil 16040), Shore A 60 (Semsil 16060) and Shore A 80 (Semsil 16080). The rubber is translucent and can be coloured with colour batches based on silicone rubber. A typical vulcanisation is 10 minutes at 175 °C, followed by a post-cure of 4 hours at 200 °C.
⚠️ Inhibition with platinum silicones
Platinum curing can be disrupted by sulphur, tin, amines and residues of peroxide or condensation systems. Keep moulds and mixing equipment free of these, otherwise the rubber will not vulcanise or will vulcanise incompletely.

Processing
- Keep moulds and mixing equipment clean and free of substances that cause inhibition.
- Colour the rubber with a colour batch based on silicone rubber if required.
- Fill the heated mould and vulcanise under pressure, typically 10 minutes at 175 °C. Adjust the pressure to your process.
- Post-cure the moulded parts for 4 hours at 200 °C.

- ✓ Outside the temperature range of -50 to +180 °C, test the material in your own application first.
- ✓ The mechanical values are typical values at Shore A 40, not a specification. The current data sheet prevails.
- ✓ The suitability and any certification of your end product are the responsibility of the manufacturer of the end product.
- ✓ Available in 1 kg and 10 kg. For larger quantities or other hardnesses, we are happy to provide a quote.
