Premium Platinum Silicone for Professional Applications
QM 272 is a two-component, platinum-catalyzed silicone rubber from CHT Germany, specially developed for making hard, durable molds with a shore hardness of 70 A (after heating). This high-performance silicone offers excellent chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and fast demoulding time, ideal for demanding production environments and industrial applications.
Key Benefits
-
High hardness (Shore 70 A): Ideal for rubber rollers and applications requiring stiffness
-
Excellent chemical resistance: Resistant to aggressive materials such as epoxy, polyester and casting resins
-
Fast demoulding time (8-12 hours): Increased productivity and shorter cycle times
-
Dimensionally stable (<0.1% shrinkage): Accurate reproduction of details and geometries
-
High tear strength (15.7 N/mm): Durable molds with a long service life, even with intensive use
-
Wide temperature range (-55°C to 204°C): Suitable for various production conditions
Typical Applications
-
Rubber Rolls: Production of structured rolls for industrial processes
-
Architectural replication: Molds for facade elements, ornaments and decorative concrete products
-
Furniture industry: Reproduction of moldings, mouldings and decorative elements
-
Rapid prototyping: Hard molds for functional prototypes and small series
-
Frames and borders: Production of decorative frames and borders
-
Composites and Plastics: Chemically Resistant Molds for Aggressive Resin Systems
Technical Features
QM 272 is supplied as a two-component system with a mixing ratio of 10:1 by weight (A:B). The pot life is approximately 60 minutes at 25°C, with a demoulding time of 8-12 hours at room temperature. For optimal performance, heating is recommended: 30 minutes at 150°C produces a shore hardness of 70 A. The cured silicone has a tensile strength of 5.52 N/mm² (800 psi) and an elongation of 100%, providing excellent mechanical properties.
CHT Germany is a leading specialist in high-performance silicone technology for industrial and professional applications, with decades of experience in mold-making materials.
