Description
This silicone is very brittle, which makes it ideal for creating a broken-glass effect.
Silicone Glass Effect is a two-component, platinum-cure addition casting silicone that cures at room temperature. Once mixed, the silicone is very free-flowing and crystal clear.

Please note: pot life and demoulding time depend strongly on temperature! At higher temperatures, the working time and demoulding time become shorter.
Processing
Silicone Glass Effect can easily be mixed by hand or by machine. Mix Part A and Part B thoroughly in the specified ratio (100 parts A to 100 parts B by weight). Use the mixture within the pot life and do not demould until it has fully cured. If required, you can speed up curing by placing the whole assembly in an oven. Bear in mind that air bubbles will then have less time to escape.
The best breaking results are achieved after curing for at least 1 hour at 20°C.
Additional information
Trapped air is best prevented by vacuum degassing the silicone immediately after mixing. To avoid air bubbles, stir Part A and Part B thoroughly but slowly, without whipping in air. A figure-of-eight motion works best.
If you want to lower the Shore hardness, you can add silicone oil from our webshop. Please note: silicone oil does not cross-link into the silicone and may migrate to the surface over time. You can tint the silicone to an intense, opaque shade or a transparent one with silicone dye.
At higher temperatures the silicone may develop a very faint yellowish haze. For most applications, however, this does no harm.
Please note: this is an addition-cure silicone. Addition-cure silicones can be poisoned (inhibited) by sulphur, nitrogen, amine compounds and metal salts. If you are not sure whether the products you are using (including gloves, spatulas and cups) contain these substances, carry out a small test first. These substances are found in, among other things, many latex gloves, some plasticines, lacquers and adhesives, condensation-cure silicones, one-component silicone sealants, natural rubbers and 3D printing materials (especially stereolithography). If you still want to use them, you will need to apply a protective layer of polyvinyl alcohol.
Shelf life
Provided the silicone is stored cool and frost-free in its closed packaging, it has a shelf life of at least 1 year.
