How to Use Kneaded Epoxy (General Guidelines)
Preparation: Clean/degrease the surface and lightly roughen it where possible.
Take parts A and B: equal parts according to the product sheet; avoid cross-contamination in pots.
Knead until smooth: mix thoroughly until the color is uniform (wear gloves!).
Shaping & Applying: Build up in thin layers; let seams blend wet-on-wet
Smoothing: this can often be done with a slightly moistened finger or a suitable solvent according to TDS
Post-processing after hardening: drilling, sanding, filing and painting possible
Always follow the TDS/SDS of the specific product for mixing ratio, working time and full cure.
Tips for the best results
→ Work at 18–25°C; higher temperatures accelerate the reaction and shorten processing time
→ Build up large volumes in phases to avoid excessive heat development
→ For extra strength: press fiberglass or carbon fiber fabric into the wet epoxy putty
→ For lightweight parts: choose lightweight kneadable epoxy or mix with suitable microfillers
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I paint over kneadable epoxy?
Yes, after complete curing. Degrease and lightly sand for optimal adhesion; use paint/primer suitable for epoxy substrates.
Does it stick to smooth plastic or metal?
In most cases, yes, provided it's thoroughly degreased and roughened. Always test on a small area. For difficult plastics, a primer can help.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Many systems can be used outdoors. If necessary, protect visible surfaces with a suitable paint/coating according to the product instructions.
