Buying silicones from outside the EU? Let them come in through us.
Anyone importing silicones from China, the US or elsewhere is personally responsible for REACH. Nedform B.V. holds its own REACH registration and acts as the importer. You then simply buy within the EU, from us.

The risk of importing yourself
No data, no market. Silicones included.
When you buy outside the EU, you legally become the importer the moment the goods enter. From 1 tonne per substance per year, that means: register yourself, or the product cannot be placed on the market.

“Polymers are exempt” is only half true
The silicone polymer itself does not need to be registered, but the monomers it is made from do (Art. 6(3) REACH). That obligation lies with the importer.

Sales ban and recall
Without a valid registration the product may not be placed on the market. Stock already with your customers has to come back.

Shipment held at the border
Customs and market surveillance authorities check chemical shipments at the border. You pay for storage, delays and possibly destruction.

Criminal enforcement
National authorities enforce REACH. In the Netherlands and Germany, among others, breaches can be prosecuted as criminal offences.

D4, D5 and D6 as hidden residues
Cyclic siloxanes are subject to a REACH restriction. Silicones from outside the EU often contain them as residues, without any mention on the SDS.

SDS and label don't comply
A foreign safety data sheet rarely meets REACH and CLP requirements. Whoever supplies within the EU must provide the correct version in the correct language.
How it works
You choose the product, we become the importer.
The goods enter the EU in Nedform's name. That brings the import under our registration, and you no longer buy from outside the EU but from a Dutch supplier.

Request
You send us the product, supplier, expected annual quantity and the manufacturer's SDS.
Step 2
Composition check
We assess monomers, fillers, catalyst and additives: what falls under our registration and what doesn't.
Step 3
Purchasing and import
Nedform buys from your supplier and imports the goods. We monitor the tonnage under our registration.
Step 4
Delivery to you
You receive the product from Heerlen, with the EU documents that belong to your package.
Fits directly
Silicones based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS): most casting, mould-making and impression silicones, RTV-2 and silicone oils.
Check required
Vinyl- or phenyl-functional silicones, crosslinkers, fillers such as silica, catalysts and additives. Every substance from 1 tonne per year needs its own registration, with us or further up the supply chain. We'll find out for you.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use your registration number for my own import?
No. A REACH registration belongs to the registrant and cannot be transferred. The goods must enter the EU through Nedform; only then is the import covered by our registration.
Is REACH a certificate?
No. REACH works with registrations per substance and per registrant. A supplier who promises “REACH certified” without stating a registration number shouldn't be taken at their word. Always ask for the number.
Why are the SDS and label not included?
They are mandatory, but tailored per product. One product needs a new SDS in three languages, another only a label. That's why we charge for them separately, matched to what your product needs.
My supplier says they have an Only Representative.
Then the import can run under their registration. Do check that you are on the list of covered importers and that your volume falls within their tonnage. In doubt? Send us the details.
From what quantity?
The registration obligation applies from 1 tonne per substance per year. Our minimum order per import: 1,000 kg.
