    Premium Volatile Dimethicone for Professional Cosmetic and Industrial Applications

    Silicone Oil 2 cSt is an extremely low-viscosity, colorless volatile polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fluid with INCI name Dimethicone, a viscosity of 2 cSt and a density of 0.872 g/cm³ at 25°C. Like the 1.5 cSt grade, the 2 cSt grade also evaporates completely after application without leaving any residue or greasy feel, but with a significantly higher flash point of 87°C, this grade offers a better safety margin when used in formulation environments. With a melting point of -84°C and a surface tension of 18.7 dynes/cm, Silicone Oil 2 cSt is an excellent volatile carrier for personal care products, and ideally suited for applications where a slightly higher viscosity is desired compared to the 1.5 cSt grade, or where the higher flash point is a requirement.

    Typical Applications

    • Volatile carrier in hair care products such as hair sprays, conditioners and leave-in treatments
    • Base component in skin care: cleansing creams, lotions, sunscreens and bath oils
    • Formulation raw material for antiperspirants and deodorants – ideally suited for the 2 cSt grade
    • Substitute for cyclomethicone (D4/D5) in formulations avoiding SVHC substances
    • Industrial: coatings for glass vials and lenses, household products, penetrating oil ingredients and polish
    • Electrical insulating fluid in precision mechanical and electronic equipment
    ⚠️ Fire hazard – flash point 87°C: The 2 cSt grade has a flash point of 87°C. Although this is higher than the 1.5 cSt grade, it is recommended to keep the product away from open flames, hot surfaces and direct heat sources. Store cool at 5–30°C in tightly closed packaging in a well-ventilated place. In case of fire: use carbon dioxide, powder or alcohol-resistant foam – no water jets.
