    Size chart

Water-soluble barrier coat between model and addition-cure silicone

PVA release agent is a solution of polyvinyl alcohol. Once the solvent has evaporated, a very thin, water-soluble layer of polyvinyl alcohol remains that seals the model. This often lets you use addition-cure silicones on a surface that would otherwise disturb the cure. It also stops silicone oil from soaking into natural stone and leaving stains. After demoulding you simply wash the layer off with water.

    ⚠️ Always test first

A PVA layer reduces the risk of inhibition of addition-cure (platinum) silicones, but it is no guarantee. Always test on a small area of your model or substrate first. With natural stone, also check that the layer can be removed completely with water afterwards.

    Key benefits

    • Sealing layer: often makes addition-cure silicones possible on an inhibiting surface.
    • Water-soluble: easy to remove with water after demoulding.
    • Protects natural stone: prevents stains from silicone oil.
    • Simple: quick and easy to apply.

    Typical applications

    • ✓ Sealing models that may inhibit addition-cure silicones
    • ✓ Moulding natural stone without silicone oil stains

    Processing

    1. Apply the product thinly but with full coverage to the surface.
    2. Avoid applying several coats on top of each other: a new coat can dissolve the coat already applied.
    3. Let the solvent evaporate completely. Drying time depends on temperature and humidity.
    4. Then pour or brush on the silicone.
    5. Wash the PVA layer off with water after demoulding.

    Points to note

    • ✓ The product is flammable. Keep it away from flames, fire and hot objects.
    • ✓ Work in a well-ventilated room and wear gloves.
    • ✓ In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with water for several minutes. See a doctor if irritation persists.
    • ✓ Keeps for at least 1 year when tightly closed and stored dark and cool (but not cold).
