Premium Fast Translucent Silicone for Professional Prototyping
Wacker Elastosil Vario 15 Fast is a 2-component, platinum-cure (addition-curing) casting silicone with exceptional softness (Shore A 15) and very fast curing (15 minutes demoldable). This high-quality translucent silicone combines very low viscosity (5,000 mPa·s) with minimal shrinkage (<0.1%) and excellent mechanical properties, specifically developed for rapid prototyping where visual control is essential. Food-safe and skin-friendly according to FDA/TÜV guidelines. Easy 10:1 mixing ratio.
Key Benefits
-
Very fast curing: 2 minutes pot life, 15 minutes demoldable at 20°C for rapid production and short lead times
-
Translucent for visual control: Cast objects remain visible for precise positioning and precision cutting during prototyping
-
Shore A 15 softness: Very flexible and soft for easy demolding and delicate details
-
Platinum-cure technology: Minimal shrinkage (<0.1%), no inhibition with most substrates, food-safe and skin-friendly
-
Very fluid and self-deaerating: 5,000 mPa·s viscosity for perfect detail reproduction without vacuum treatment
-
Adjustable properties: Hardness and speed adjustable by mixing with Vario 40 and/or Normal catalyst - see mixing charts
Typical Applications
- Rapid prototyping where visual control during mold cutting is essential
- Food-safe molds for chocolate, confectionery, fondant, and culinary creations (after post-curing)
- SFX and prosthetics: skin-friendly molds for masks, facial applications, and special effects
- Podiatry applications and medical models where softness and speed are required
- Pad printing pads and flexible printing applications in the graphic industry
- Molds for polyurethane, epoxy, polyester, and acrylic resins where transparency is required
Processing Instructions:
- Carefully mix component A and B in a 10:1 ratio (by weight) manually or mechanically
- Stir slowly in a figure-8 motion to prevent air entrapment
- Process the mixture within the 2-minute pot life
- Wait to demold until fully cured (15 minutes at 20°C)
- For food-safe applications: post-cure for 2-3 hours at 100-140°C to fully outgas
- Curing can be accelerated by heating - note: air bubbles have less time to escape

🧪 EL ASTOSIL VARIO MIX
Mixing Calculator for Your Perfect Silicone
Calculate exactly how much Elastosil Vario 15, Vario 40, Catalyst Vario F (fast) and Normal you need.
All values at 20 °C. Temperature has a big influence!
Disclaimer: This calculator is merely a tool and provides an estimate based on the graph from the manual. Actual processing time and curing time may vary due to temperature, mixing technique, humidity, or other factors. Siliconesandmore accepts no liability for differing results. Always perform a small test mix first and consult the official manual.
Tip: Purchase the kits separately if you want to adjust both hardness and speed.
-
Adjusting Hardness: Mix A-component of Vario 15 with Vario 40 for any desired hardness between Shore A 15-40 (e.g., 50/50 mix = approx. Shore A 27.5)
-
Adjusting Speed: Mix Fast B-component (15 min) with Normal B-component (6 hours) for intermediate curing times - see graph in datasheet
-
Please note: Total B-component must always be 10% of the weight of the total A-component

Important Warning: Inhibition with Addition-Cure Silicones
Please note: This is an addition-cure silicone (platinum-cure). These silicones can be inhibited by sulfur, nitrogen, amino compounds, and metal salts. If you are unsure whether the products you are using (including gloves, spatulas, and cups) contain these ingredients, first conduct a small test. These substances are found, among other things, in many latex gloves, some plasticines, paints and glues, condensation-cure silicones, 1-component silicone sealant, natural rubbers, and 3D printing material (especially stereolithography). If you wish to use these, you will need to apply a protective layer of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).
