Diluent for a more fluid A1 mix
A1 Diluent is a liquid that lowers the viscosity of A1 acrylic resin (Acrylic One). The mix flows better, so you can cast complex shapes or add more filler. Use a maximum of 5 % diluent of the total weight of the A1 mix. The diluent can affect the working time.
Key benefits
- Better flow: the mix runs more easily into fine details and complex moulds.
- More filler possible: the lower viscosity lets you add more filler.
- Low dosage: maximum 5 % of the total weight.
- Part of the A1 system: designed for A1 acrylic resin.
Typical applications
- ✓ Casting complex shapes and fine details
- ✓ A1 mixes with a high filler content
Application
- Work out the total weight of your A1 mix (liquid plus powder).
- Add a maximum of 5 % diluent based on that total weight. For 1 kg of A1 liquid and 2 kg of A1 powder, that is a maximum of 150 grams.
- Mix well until homogeneous and cast as usual.
- Work above 10 °C, ideally at 20 °C.
Points to note
- ✓ Never use more than 5 % diluent of the total weight.
- ✓ The diluent can affect the working time. Do a small test first with a new recipe.
- ✓ Stored in closed packaging, cool, frost-free and out of direct sunlight, the shelf life is at least 1 year.
