Versatile Clear Epoxy Casting Resin for Casting, Laminating, Bonding & Coating

All-Round Epoxy Casting Resin is a solvent-free, two-component epoxy resin widely used in boat building and manufacturing. Thanks to its low viscosity (free-flowing, approx. 800 mPa·s), the resin impregnates wood, concrete, glass fibre, aramid, basalt and carbon fibres excellently and can be used as a laminating resin, adhesive, casting resin and coating. Once cured, the material is very strong and impact-resistant with a final hardness of Shore D85. The resin is processed at a mixing ratio of 100:50 by weight, has a working time of 20-25 minutes at 20°C and a demould time of 12-18 hours.

Key Properties

  • Versatile: → one resin for laminating, bonding, casting and coating.
  • Shore D85: → very strong and impact-resistant result for load-bearing applications.
  • Low viscosity: → free-flowing, impregnates fibres deeply and evenly.
  • Solvent-free and low-odour: → more pleasant to process in the workshop.
  • Casting height 1-50 mm: → suitable for thin coating layers as well as thicker castings.
  • UV-resistant: → stays clear for a long time; slight yellowing only occurs after extended time.

Technical Data

  • Mixing ratio (weight): 100:50

  • Working time at 20°C: 20-25 minutes (100 g)
  • Curing time at 20°C: 12-18 hours
  • Minimum casting height: 1 mm
  • Maximum casting height: 50 mm
  • Maximum temperature resistance (cured): up to 55°C
  • Hardness: Shore D85
  • Solvent-free: yes
  • Shelf life: approx. 6 months, tightly closed, stored dry between 18°C and 28°C

Processing

  1. Always wear protective gloves (nitrile) and safety goggles, and work in a well-ventilated area. Always process the product above 8°C.
  2. Combine components A and B at a ratio of 100:50 by weight.
  3. Mix thoroughly: stir along the edges and across the bottom of the cup until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
  4. Preferably pour the mixture into a second cup and mix again.
  5. Process within the working time: cast, laminate, bond (optionally with filler) or apply with a brush or velour roller.
  6. Allow to cure for 12-18 hours. Higher temperature or larger volume speeds up curing; lower temperature or thin layers slow it down.

⚠️ Note – heat build-up in thick castings: Epoxy cures exothermically. With large volumes or casting heights approaching the maximum 50 mm, the core can become hot, which can lead to cracking, bubble formation or accelerated yellowing. Cast thick pieces in multiple layers or smaller volumes.

The hardener is corrosive. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and wear suitable protective equipment.

Applications

  • Laminating and impregnating glass fibre, carbon, aramid and basalt.
  • River tables and decorative castings.
  • Bonding and filling (with filler) in boat building and construction.
  • Coating of wood, concrete and composites.
  • Model making, prototyping and creative applications.

Safety

All-Round Epoxy is a two-component product whose two parts are both classified as hazardous in liquid form. The hardener (component B) is corrosive and causes severe burns and eye damage (H314); both components may cause an allergic skin reaction (H317) and are toxic to aquatic life (H411). Avoid contact with skin and eyes, prevent inhalation of vapours and mist, and always work in a well-ventilated area with suitable personal protective equipment. For full information, please refer to the safety data sheets for components A and B.
