How does it work?

Six simple steps to a perfect 3D plaster cast:

Step 1: Choose the mixing cup the hand or foot fits into comfortably, and practise the position first with the empty cup.
Step 2: Mix the 3D-Gel with cold water in the chosen cup (mix for no longer than 40 seconds).
Step 3: Place the hand or foot into the pink mixture, move it gently so air bubbles can escape, then hold completely still.
Step 4: The gel has set once the colour has changed from pink to white – expect to hold still for at least 3 minutes. Then carefully remove the hand.
Step 5: Mix the 3D-Plaster with water and pour it slowly into the mould. Pour within half an hour.
Step 6: Let the plaster set for 30 minutes, remove the mould and touch up small details with a cocktail stick or fine sandpaper.

What's in the set?

You'll also need: cold tap water, a scale and an electric mixer.

Depending on the cup you use, you can make different casts:

• Baby hand with the 550 ml cup – 100 grams of 3D-Gel per cast
• Baby foot with the 1150 ml cup – 200 grams of 3D-Gel per cast
• Child's hand with the 2000 ml cup – 400 grams of 3D-Gel per cast

So with 500 grams of 3D-Gel and 1 kilo of 3D-Plaster you can make, for example, three baby hands or one child's hand.

Tips for a perfect result!

• Practise with the empty cup first: the child knows what's coming and will stay still more easily.
• Avoid air bubbles: make sure the fingertips touch the palm so air can escape.
• Choose the right position: positions with fingers hanging free trap air and leave missing fingertips later on.
• Cold or lukewarm water: lukewarm feels nicer for a baby, but the gel sets noticeably faster – work quickly in that case.
• Feel free to wait longer before demoulding: the plaster can be demoulded after 30 minutes but only reaches full strength after 8 hours. With small hands, fewer fingers break off if you wait.
• Use the correct mixing ratios (see the guidelines below).

PLEASE NOTE: not every hand position is suitable. Avoid positions where air gets trapped in the mould. See the diagram below for the best hand positions.
