Translucent addition-cure silicone for concrete moulds and reproduction moulds

Wacker CENUSIL® M 830 A/B is a pourable, addition-curing (platinum) two-component silicone rubber that cures at room temperature without shrinkage. Both components are translucent with a viscosity of 8,000 mPa·s, so the silicone flows well and de-airs itself. You mix 1:1 and have 60 minutes pot life at 23 °C. You can demould after 14 to 16 hours. The cured rubber has a hardness of Shore A 26, a tensile strength of 5 N/mm² and 500 % elongation at break.

Key benefits

  • Shore A 26: a versatile hardness for most moulds.
  • Mix ratio 1:1: easy to weigh and mix.
  • Shrink-free cure: dimensionally accurate moulds, even at large volumes.
  • Good flow and self-de-airing: 8,000 mPa·s per component.
  • Translucent: you can see the model through the mould when cutting it open.

Typical applications

  • ✓ Moulds for concrete and artificial stone
  • ✓ Reproduction moulds for casting resins and plaster
  • ✓ Production moulds for small and medium runs

Application

  1. Stir component A and component B separately and thoroughly.
  2. Weigh A and B in a 1:1 ratio and mix slowly and carefully until homogeneous.
  3. De-air the mixture, preferably in a vacuum chamber.
  4. Pour within the 60-minute pot life (23 °C).
  5. Demould after 14 to 16 hours at 23 °C. Heat speeds up the cure.

⚠️ Inhibition with addition-cure silicones

The platinum catalyst is in component A. Curing can be inhibited by sulphur, nitrogen, amine compounds and metal salts. These are found in, among other things, latex gloves, sulphur-containing clay, condensation-cure silicones, some paints and adhesives and certain 3D printing materials. If in doubt, run a small test first.

Points to note

  • ✓ Only use components A and B from the same batch number.
  • ✓ The expiry date of each batch is on the label. After that date the silicone is not automatically unusable, but check its properties before you use it.
  • ✓ This product is intended for the business market and is supplied as a 50 kg set.
