This iron powder consists of 100% iron. Thanks to its fine particle size, it can be mixed into paints, lacquers, casting resins and plasters, for example. You can then sand the piece if desired and apply a patina.
Metal powder can be used to make an object heavier or to give it a particular appearance.

Processing
Take the weight of the metal powder into account during processing: metal tends to settle to the bottom.
Adding a high proportion of metal powder to casting resins or plasters will make the end result more brittle.
Processing in acrylic resin:
Mix Part A and Part B of the acrylic resin in the correct ratio. Then add the same weight of metal powder as the total weight of the acrylic resin mixture. For example, 1.5 kg of mixed acrylic resin with 1.5 kg of metal powder.
Accelerating the rusting process: this can be done with hydrochloric acid or ammonia (mind your safety).
The process can be stopped by rinsing with water or soda.
To preserve the effect, you can apply a sealer.
If you do not apply a sealer, the rusting process will continue naturally.
Applying a patina: there are many techniques for applying patinas, and acids are often used. Think carefully about your own safety and that of the people around you – particularly with regard to inhalation and skin contact! If you are not familiar with the safe handling and processing of these substances, we advise against patinating.
