Premium Platinum Silicone for Professional Applications
QM 270 is a two-component platinum-catalyzed silicone rubber from CHT Germany, specially developed for making hard, durable molds with a Shore hardness of 62 A. This high-quality silicone offers excellent physical and electrical properties, dimensional stability, and fast demolding time, ideal for architectural replication, the furniture industry, and rapid prototyping.
Key Advantages
- High hardness (Shore 62 A): Ideal for applications requiring rigidity and precision
- Excellent resistance to casting resins: Resistant to aggressive materials such as epoxy and polyester
- Fast demolding time (8-12 hours): Increased productivity and shorter cycle times
- Dimensionally stable (<0.1% shrinkage): Accurate reproduction of details and geometries
- High tear strength (17.4 N/mm): Durable molds with long service life, even with intensive use
- Wide temperature range (-55°C to 204°C): Suitable for various production conditions
Typical Applications
- Architectural replication: Molds for facade elements, ornaments, and decorative concrete products
- Furniture industry: Reproduction of moldings, decorative profiles, and ornamental elements
- Frames and borders: Production of ornate frames and decorative edges
- Rapid prototyping: Hard molds for functional prototypes and small series
- Rubber rollers: Durable rollers for industrial applications
Technical Characteristics
QM 270 is supplied as a 2-component system with a mixing ratio of 10:1 by weight (A:B). The working time is approximately 70 minutes at 25°C (until the initial viscosity doubles), with a demolding time of 8-12 hours at room temperature (23°C). Heating accelerates curing. The cured silicone has a tensile strength of 6.9 N/mm² (1001 psi), an elongation of 110%, and a tear strength of 17.4 N/mm (99 ppi), ensuring excellent mechanical properties.
CHT Germany is a leading specialist in high-quality silicone technology for industrial and professional applications, with decades of experience in mold-making materials.
