Premium Condensation Silicone for Professional Applications
Condensation Silicone 20 Shore A is a medium-hardness tin-cure mould rubber, specially developed for making durable moulds for polyurethane and epoxy casting. This liquid silicone combines excellent detail reproduction with high tensile strength, making it ideal for both prototyping and production work.
Key Benefits
- Excellent flow: captures the finest details and textures with ease
- High tensile strength: durable moulds that withstand intensive use
- Medium hardness (20 Shore A): optimum balance between flexibility and stability
- Compatible with PU and epoxy: no inhibition when used with polyurethane and epoxy systems
- Reliable curing: predictable working time and consistent results
- Cost-effective: excellent value for money for professional use
Typical Applications
- Moulds for polyurethane casting (PU foam, elastomers, rigid resins)
- Epoxy and acrylic resin casting (Acrylic One, concrete-look pieces, decorative objects)
- Prototyping and production work in design and engineering
- Props and set building for film, theatre and events
- Copying sculptures and ornaments for artists and restorers
- Jewellery and small-scale reproduction in the creative industries
Technical Characteristics
This condensation silicone is supplied as a two-component system and is easy to process at room temperature. Its medium hardness of 20 Shore A produces flexible moulds that are easy to demould, while the high tensile strength allows long-term use. Suitable for plaster, concrete, wax, polyurethane and epoxy.
Please note: Pot life (working time) and demoulding time depend strongly on the mix ratio and the humidity. Adding more silicone B (curing agent) or working at higher humidity shortens both the pot life and the demoulding time.
Brushing, Spreading or Trowelling
To brush, spread or trowel the silicone, you can add Thixo C (0.6–2%, typically 1%). This thickener makes the silicone spreadable with a spatula. With this method, the mould needs a support shell made of plaster bandage, epoxy support shell material, or acrylic resin with thickener and glass fibre fabric.
Produced by Silicones and More, specialists in high-quality mould rubbers and casting materials for professional makers.
