Premium Chemically Inert Silicone Oil for Professional Lubrication and Damping Applications
Silicone Oil 100,000 cSt is a very viscous, colorless, and chemically inert polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fluid with a viscosity of 100,000 cSt and a density of 0.976 g/cm³ at 25°C. With a flash point of over 300°C, a pour point of -50°C, and a surface tension of 21.5 mN/m, Silicone Oil 100,000 cSt offers the highest film strength and the longest residence time on surfaces of the entire range. Its extremely high viscosity makes this product ideal for heavy lubrication applications, shock and vibration damping systems, and maximizing the softening of silicones. Food-grade version (PC grade) available in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and FDA 21 CFR 173.340.
Key Benefits
-
Flash point >300°C: High thermal stability – safe to use at continuously high temperatures in industrial processing and lubrication applications.
-
Viscosity 100,000 cSt at 25°C: Highest viscosity grade in the range – maximum film strength and minimal migration from the surface.
-
Pour point -50°C: Retains its liquid properties at low temperatures – applicable in environments with large temperature fluctuations.
-
Surface tension 21.5 mN/m: Excellent wetting – forms an even, robust protective film that stays in place for a long time.
-
Food grade compliant with EC 1935/2004 and FDA 21 CFR 173.340: Certified for applications requiring indirect food contact – suitable for use in the food industry.
-
Minimal migration: The extremely high viscosity significantly slows down exudation from silicones – longer effective lifespan for treated molds and machine parts.
Typical Applications
- Heavy-duty release coating for rubber, polyurethane, and epoxy – remains on complex vertical mold surfaces the longest of all grades in the range.
- Additive for addition and condensation silicones (1–10%) to maximally reduce hardness – ideally suited for very soft, hyper-flexible end products.
- Damping fluid in mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems – exceptional shock and vibration damping properties due to high viscosity.
- Lubricant for heavily loaded plastic and elastomer contacts – long-lasting lubricating film with minimal wear.
- Electrical insulation fluid and damping fluid in control cabinets and electronic housings.
- Raw material for pastes, gels, and thick protective coating formulations.
Processing Instructions (as an additive in silicones):
- Weigh the desired amount of A-component of your silicone and add the B-component according to the mixing ratio information sheet.
- Stir the mixture thoroughly.
- Add the silicone oil to the silicone mixture and stir thoroughly – the extremely high viscosity requires more mixing power and time than lower grades. Vary between 1 and 10% oil based on the total weight. An addition of approximately 8% reduces the Shore A hardness by about 3 to 5 points.
- Keep the percentage below 10%: more than 10% oil can unacceptably reduce the final strength of the cured silicone.
- Process the mixture within the pot life of your silicone.
⚠️ Please note: Silicone oil does not cross-link in silicone and will slowly exude over time or under continuous stress, leaving a greasy layer on the mold. With 100,000 cSt, this process is the slowest of all grades, but it should be considered for long-term mold applications.
⚠️ Thermal stability: Polydimethylsiloxane begins to slowly thermally degrade above approximately 150°C, releasing, among other things, formaldehyde gas. Silicone Oil 100,000 cSt has the highest thermal margin in the range with a flash point of over 300°C. Nevertheless, ensure sufficient ventilation or extraction when used at high temperatures.
Compliance & Certification
Silicone Oil 100,000 cSt in the PC grade (food-safe version) complies with EC 1935/2004 and EC 10/2011 for materials in contact with foodstuffs, with FDA 21 CFR 173.340 (antifoaming agent as a secondary direct food additive), and with the BfR recommendation "XV Silicones". For standard industrial applications, the standard technical datasheet values apply.
