Premium Chemically Inert Silicone Oil for Professional Mold Release and Lubrication Applications
Silicone Oil 200 cSt is a colorless, chemically inert polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fluid with a viscosity of 200 cSt and a density of 0.970 g/cm³ at 25°C. The product has a flash point of over 300°C, a pour point of -50°C, and a low surface tension of 21.0 mN/m, ensuring excellent wetting properties on virtually any surface. Silicone Oil 200 cSt is ideally suited for applications where chemical inertness, water repellency, electrical insulation, and thermal stability over a wide temperature range are essential. The 200 cSt viscosity offers a good balance between fluidity and film formation, making this product versatile for use as a release agent, additive, lubricant, and anti-foaming agent.
Key Benefits
- Flash Point >300°C: Exceptionally high thermal stability – safe for use at elevated temperatures in most industrial processing operations.
- Viscosity 200 cSt at 25°C: Optimal film thickness for lubrication and release applications – fluid enough for even application, viscous enough for durable protection.
- Pour Point -50°C: Retains its liquid properties at low temperatures – suitable for applications in cold environments or seasonal outdoor use.
- Low Surface Tension 21.0 mN/m: Wets surfaces quickly and completely – improves release properties and reduces the chance of air entrapment in molding applications.
- Food Grade compliant with EC 1935/2004 and FDA 21 CFR 173.340: Certified for applications requiring indirect food contact – usable in the food industry as an anti-foaming agent or lubricant.
- Chemically Non-Reactive: Does not react with addition or condensation silicones, most plastics, and elastomers – safe to use as an additive in silicones without undesirable side reactions.
Typical Applications
- Release agent for rubber, polyurethane, epoxy, and metal injection molding – applied neat or as part of a compounded formulation
- Additive in addition and condensation silicones (1–10%) to reduce hardness and increase fluidity – for smoother, more flexible end products
- Anti-foaming agent in non-aqueous systems – highly effective in small quantities
- Lubricant for plastic and elastomer surfaces – excellent lubricating properties without material degradation
- Electrical insulation and damping fluid in electrical and electronic equipment
- Active ingredient in automotive and furniture polish, in emulsion and solvent-based formulations
Processing Instructions (as an additive in silicones):
- Weigh the desired amount of component A of your silicone and add component B according to the mixing ratio information sheet.
- Stir the mixture thoroughly.
- Add the silicone oil to the silicone mixture and stir again. Vary between 1 and 10% oil by total weight. An addition of approximately 8% will reduce the Shore A hardness by about 3 to 5 points.
- Keep the percentage below 10%: more than 10% oil can unacceptably reduce the ultimate strength of the cured silicone.
- Process the mixture within the pot life of your silicone.
Conformity & Certification
The silicone oil PC grade (food-safe version) complies with EC 1935/2004 and EC 10/2011 for materials in contact with foodstuffs, with FDA 21 CFR 173.340 (anti-foaming agent as a secondary direct food additive), and with the BfR recommendation "XV Silicones". For standard industrial applications, the standard technical datasheet values apply.
