Premium Fast Catalyst for Professional Mold-Making and Model-Making Applications

WACKER® Catalyst T 47 is a very fast tin catalyst (curing agent) for all condensation-curing RTV-2 silicones. The thin, yellowish liquid (viscosity 1.6 mPa·s, density 1.02 g/cm³) strongly accelerates curing and is dosed at 1 to 2 % relative to the A component. T 47 can be used neat for maximum speed, or blended with a standard catalyst such as T 21 (polyurethane resin resistance) or T 51 (polyester resin resistance) to set any curing speed while retaining that catalyst's properties. This lets you control pot life and demolding time across a wide range, from a few minutes to over an hour. The catalyst is intended for producing flexible molds and printing pads based on condensation RTV-2 silicones.

    Key Benefits

    • Very fast curing – as the fastest catalyst in the WACKER T series, T 47 used neat (1.5 %) reduces demolding time to 1 to 2 hours.
    • Low dosage of 1 to 2 % – a small amount is enough, so the properties of the silicone system are largely retained.
    • Freely blendable – miscible with T 21 or T 51 (for example 90:10) to fine-tune speed and resin properties exactly to your application.
    • Wide adjustable range – pot life adjustable from a few minutes up to about 120 minutes and cure time from 1 to 24 hours at room temperature.
    • Universally applicable – suitable for all condensation-curing ELASTOSIL® M/RT silicones and comparable RTV-2 systems.
    • Colorable for mixing control – the yellowish tint and optional color addition make visual control of a homogeneous mix easy.

    Typical Applications

    • Accelerating condensation silicones for making flexible molds
    • Molds for casting polyurethane and polyester resins
    • Model-making and prototyping where short demolding times are desired
    • Production of printing pads (pad printing)
    • Molds for concrete, plaster, wax and candles
    • Props, set building and art casting with condensation silicones

    Processing Instructions

    1. Stir the A component (silicone) thoroughly before use.
    2. Weigh the catalyst accurately: 1 to 2 % T 47 by weight of the A component (so 1 to 2 grams T 47 per 100 grams A). For slower curing with more time for air to escape, dose towards 1 %; for faster curing, towards 2 %. Never use too little catalyst, as the silicone will then cure insufficiently.
    3. For a controlled speed while retaining resin resistance: blend T 47 with T 21 or T 51 (for example 0.5 gram T 47 with 4.5 grams T 21 or T 51 per 100 grams A).
    4. Mix the A component and catalyst thoroughly and homogeneously.
    5. Pour the mixture within the pot life and never prepare more than you can process within that time.
    6. Allow the whole to cure completely before demolding. Pot life and demolding time depend strongly on dosage and humidity: more catalyst or higher humidity shortens both.

    Our story

Our story began with our father, the founder of Nedform BV. We— Roel, Rutger, and Rob Collaris —are his sons and wanted to bring his passion and knowledge to the online world. That's how SAM (Silicones and More) was born—a creative space for everyone.

Whether you're a beginner, an expert, or an enthusiastic DIYer looking for the right tools, materials, and some guidance, you've come to the right place. We've worked with silicones, resins, and casting materials ourselves for years. That's why we not only deliver quality but also genuine support—based on experience.
