Wacker Elastosil M 4600 A/B is a platinum-catalyzed RTV-2 silicone rubber which, according to Wacker's Regulatory Product Information, is suitable, provided appropriate processing, for the manufacture of materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. This professional silicone combines a very soft Shore A 20 hardness with extreme elongation (800%), good thermal stability (-40°C to +200°C) and minimal shrinkage (<0.1%), making it suitable for culinary molds, potting and sealing. Easy 10:1 mixing ratio with 90 minutes pot life.

Processing Instructions:

1. Ensure both components are at room temperature (20-25°C)
2. Mix Component A and B in a 10:1 ratio (by weight)
3. Optional: place mixture in a vacuum chamber to remove air bubbles
4. Pour within the 90-minute pot life
5. Cure for approximately 12 hours at 23°C as stated in the technical data sheet, elevated temperature accelerates curing considerably

Storage: Store in original, sealed packaging in a cool, dry place. The best-before date of each batch is on the label. After that date the silicone is not automatically unusable, but check its properties before you use it.

• Europe, Regulation (EC) 1935/2004: provided appropriate processing, the product is suitable for the manufacture of food contact materials and articles according to article 3 of this Regulation, insofar as it is of suitable purity and not hazardous according to European classification and labelling requirements
• Regulation (EU) 10/2011: not applicable, silicones are excluded from this Regulation
• Germany, BfR Recommendation XV Silicones: the ingredients comply with this recommendation, with a restriction of a maximum of 0.5% volatiles for the cured elastomer
• France (Arrêté of 25 November 1992), Spain (Real Decreto 847/2011) and Switzerland (SR 817.023.21): the ingredients comply with these regulations
• China, GB 9685-2016, GB 4806.16-2025 and GB 4806.1-2016: the ingredients comply with these standards
• Brazil and Mercosur: compliant, with a maximum of 50 mg/kg platinum residue in the final product
• United States: Wacker does not issue a general food contact declaration for this product, a food contact statement can be provided separately upon request. No paragraph of 21 CFR is cited and there is no FDA approval

Wacker states explicitly that regulatory sanctioning of the ingredients in a product does not imply that the finished product manufactured from those ingredients is considered safe for contact with food by regulatory bodies. The responsibility for compliance of the finished article rests with the manufacturer of the finished product, that is, with the processor.
