Premium Orange Platinum-Addition Silicone for Professional Mold Making and Casting Applications
ZA 10 Orange is a pourable, room-temperature curing, two-component platinum-addition silicone that cures at 23 °C to an orange end product with a Shore A 13 hardness. With a working time of 15 minutes and a curing time of 120 minutes at 23 °C, this product offers a practical combination of detail reproduction, elastic recovery, and demolding. The mixing ratio is 1:1 by weight; the platinum catalyst is contained in the Catalyst component. ZA 10 Orange is suitable for applications where flexibility, tear strength, and reproducible processing are important.
Key Benefits
-
1:1 Mixing ratio: – Equal amounts of Base and Catalyst simplify weighing.
-
15-minute pot life: – At 23 °C, there is time for mixing, degassing, and controlled pouring.
-
120-minute curing time: – The mold can be efficiently demolded at 23 °C.
-
Shore A 13 hardness: – The flexible mold supports the demolding of complex details.
-
14 N/mm tear strength: – The cured silicone is suitable for repeated use.
-
350% Elongation at break: – The high elongation provides room when releasing cast parts.
Typical Applications
- Silicone molds for polyurethane resins in prototyping and product development.
- Reproduction molds for acrylic resins in model making, architectural modeling, and product design.
- Casting molds for plaster and coatings in set construction, architecture, and craft applications.
- SFX, prop, and set construction for film, television, theater, and events.
- Industrial models and functional prototypes where elastic demolding is required.
- Art and sculpture reproductions where flexibility and tear resistance are important.
Processing Instructions:
- Stir Base and Catalyst separately before weighing the components.
- Weigh both components in a 1:1 ratio. Only use Base and Catalyst with the same batch number; a deviation of up to 5% will not change the result according to the provided information.
- Mix vigorously until the color is uniform, scraping the bottom and sides of the mixing container.
- Degas the mixture if necessary to reduce trapped air.
- Pour within approximately 15 minutes, preferably from a height of about 30 cm.
- Allow to cure for approximately 120 minutes at 23 °C. At 40 °C, working and curing times are approximately halved; at 4 °C, the working time doubles and curing takes about three times longer.
Technical Characteristics
The mixture has a viscosity of approximately 4,500 mPa·s and a density of approximately 1.10 g/cm³. The cured silicone has a tensile strength of approximately 6 N/mm², an elongation at break of approximately 350%, a tear strength of approximately 14 N/mm, and an operating temperature range of −40 to 200 °C. These are typical values after 24 hours of vulcanization at 23 °C and are not intended as product specifications.

Important Warning: Inhibition in Addition Silicones
Note: This is an addition silicone (platinum-cure). These silicones can be inhibited by sulfur, nitrogen, amino compounds, and metal salts. If you are unsure whether gloves, spatulas, models, or 3D printing materials contain these substances, perform a small test first. Inhibiting substances are found in latex gloves, some plastilines, condensation silicones, one-component silicone sealants, and certain 3D printing materials. If in doubt, apply a layer of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a release layer.
