Platinum catalyst to speed up addition-cure silicones
BRB Pt Cat 10000 is a platinum solution that makes addition-cure (platinum) silicones cure faster. Extra platinum also reduces the risk of inhibition. You add the catalyst in very small amounts to the silicone component that contains the platinum. The effect depends strongly on the silicone, the temperature and the material you are casting into. Available in bottles of 10 grams, 50 grams, 250 grams or 1 kg, with pipette.
⚠️ Inhibition with addition-cure silicones
The cure of addition-cure silicones can be disrupted by sulphur, nitrogen, amine compounds and metal salts. These are found in latex gloves, sulphur-containing modelling clay, condensation-cure silicones, some paints and adhesives and certain 3D printing materials, among others. If in doubt, do a small test first.

Application
- Find out which component of your silicone contains the platinum. With 1:1 silicones this is usually component A, with 10:1 silicones usually component B. If in doubt, contact us or do a small test.
- Add the catalyst in very small amounts to that component and mix well.
- Let the components de-air separately.
- Then mix components A and B in the specified ratio.
- Use a test to find the amount that works best for your silicone and temperature.
Points to note
- ✓ Wear liquid-tight nitrile gloves. At 0.4 mm thickness you can work with this product for approx. 8 hours.
- ✓ Wear safety glasses and avoid contact with the eyes.
- ✓ This product is suspected of damaging the unborn child. Avoid exposure during pregnancy.
- ✓ At least 2 years shelf life in the tightly closed original packaging at room temperature.
