Premium Chemically Inert Silicone Oil for Professional Mold and Lubrication Applications

Silicone Oil 10 cSt is an extremely low-viscosity, colorless, and chemically inert polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fluid with a viscosity of 10 cSt and a density of 0.930 g/cm³ at 25°C. The product has a flash point of 162°C, a pour point of -65°C, and a surface tension of 20.1 mN/m. Thanks to its very low viscosity, Silicone Oil 10 cSt easily penetrates small crevices and surface structures, making it ideally suited as a thin release coating, an additive to fluidize silicone, and a penetrating lubricant for fine mechanisms. The 10 cSt viscosity offers maximum fluidity within the PDMS range for applications where the thinnest possible silicone film is desired.

    Key Benefits

    • Viscosity 10 cSt at 25°C: Extremely low-viscosity – penetrates fine structures and hard-to-reach surfaces that thicker grades cannot reach.
    • Flash Point 162°C: Sufficient thermal stability for most industrial processing applications at room temperature and slightly elevated temperatures.
    • Pour Point -65°C: Retains its liquid properties at very low temperatures – applicable in extreme cooling environments and winter outdoor applications.
    • Low Surface Tension 20.1 mN/m: Wets surfaces quickly and completely – excellent spreading as a thin release coating on molds and dies.
    • Chemically Non-Reactive: Does not react with addition or condensation silicones, most plastics and elastomers – safe as an additive without undesirable side reactions.
    • Colorless and Odorless: Leaves no visible residue on treated surfaces – suitable for applications where aesthetic neutrality is required.

    Typical Applications

    • Thin release coating for rubber, polyurethane, epoxy, and metal injection molding – penetrates deeper into complex surface structures than higher viscosity grades.
    • Additive for addition and condensation silicones (1–10%) to increase fluidity and facilitate de-aeration.
    • Anti-foaming agent in non-aqueous systems – effective even in very small quantities.
    • Penetrating lubricant for fine plastic and elastomer mechanisms.
    • Electrical insulating agent in electrical and electronic equipment.
    • Raw material for cosmetic formulations (INCI: Dimethicone).

Processing Instructions (as an additive in silicones):

    1. Weigh the desired amount of component A of your silicone and add component B according to the mixing ratio information sheet.
    2. Stir the mixture thoroughly.
    3. Add the silicone oil to the silicone mixture and stir again. Vary between 1 and 10% oil based on the total weight. An addition of approximately 8% reduces the Shore A hardness by about 3 to 5 points.
    4. Keep the percentage below 10%: more than 10% oil can unacceptably reduce the final strength of the cured silicone.
    5. Process the mixture within the pot life of your silicone.
⚠️ Note: Silicone oil does not cross-link in silicone and will slowly exude over time or under sustained stress, leaving a greasy layer on the mold. Take this into account for long-term mold applications.
⚠️ Thermal stability: Silicone Oil 10 cSt has a flash point of 162°C and begins to thermally degrade slowly above approximately 150°C, releasing formaldehyde gas, among other things. Note the lower flash point compared to higher viscosity grades: avoid open flames and sparks in the work environment.
