Premium Skin-Friendly Platinum Silicone for Professional SFX and Medical Applications
CHT True Skin 20 is a 2-component, addition-curing (platinum-cure) liquid silicone elastomer with Shore A 20 hardness, specially developed for realistic skin replication, prosthetics, and special effects applications. This professional silicone combines extreme stretchability (1000%), translucent color for accurate pigmentation, and FDA compliance (21CFR 177.2600) with a wide operating temperature of -55°C to +204°C. Softer than True Skin 30, it is ideal for moving prosthetics and delicate skin textures. Easy 1:1 mixing ratio.
Key Benefits
-
Exceptionally soft Shore A 20 hardness: Maximum skin-like softness for moving prosthetics, appliances, and realistic skin textures
-
Extreme stretchability: 1000% elongation at break (ISO 37) for natural movement and durable SFX applications
-
Translucent for perfect pigmentation: Transparent base for accurate skin tones and color mixing with silicone-compatible pigments
-
FDA compliant: Meets 21CFR 177.2600 for indirect food-safe contact and skin-friendly applications
-
Wide operating temperature: Stable from -55°C to +204°C for demanding industrial and medical environments
-
Minimal shrinkage: <0.1% linear shrinkage for dimensionally accurate molds and prosthetics
Typical Applications
- SFX prosthetics and appliances for film, TV, and theater with maximum freedom of movement
- Skin replication and bodycasting for artists and medical applications
- Animatronics and robotics where soft, skin-like covering is required
- Medical simulation and anatomical training models
- Cosplay masks and character prosthetics with natural movement
- Podiatry applications and skin-contact products
Processing Instructions:
- Stir both components A and B thoroughly before use (settling of fillers)
- Mix A and B in a 1:1 ratio by weight in a clean container (3x the volume)
- Mix until color is uniform
- Preferably degas: 30-50 mbar intermittently, 5-10 minutes
- Pour by gravity or pressure injection within the 20-minute pot life
- Allow to cure for 6-8 hours at 23°C, or accelerate with heat
Inhibition Warning: Curing can be inhibited by nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, arsenic, organotin catalysts, condensation silicones, modeling clay, sulfur-vulcanized rubbers, onion, and garlic. Use only clean tools.
