Vinyl-terminated silicone polymer of 100 mPa·s for your own RTV-2 formulations
BRB Vinyl Fluid 100 cSt is a linear polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with a vinyl group at both chain ends. You use it as a raw material when formulating addition-cure (platinum) RTV-2 silicones, for example to increase elongation and to obtain a free-flowing end product. The polymer has a viscosity of 100 ± 10 mPa·s, a density of 0.97 g/cm³ and a vinyl content of 0.4 mmol/g. This is the industrial grade of Vinyl Dimethicone 100 cSt, intended for technical applications and silicone formulations that are not meant for skin contact.

Processing
- Base your recipe on the vinyl content of 0.4 mmol/g, so that the ratio to the crosslinker in your formulation is correct.
- Mix the polymer homogeneously with the other components of your formulation.
- Use clean mixing cups and spatulas, as addition systems are sensitive to contamination.
- Test every new formulation on a small scale first for cure, hardness and elongation.

- ✓ Addition-cure silicones can be inhibited by nitrogen, sulphur and tin compounds, among others. If in doubt, run a test first.
