White paraffin wax as a base and blending wax
Remet Paraffin Wax B600 is a white base wax in pastilles. You use it as a casting wax or blend it with other waxes to adjust their melting temperature and plasticity. Paraffin wax is somewhat weaker and shrinks more than microcrystalline wax, and is often whiter. The melting point is 64 °C.
Key benefits
- Base wax: can be used on its own as a casting wax.
- Blending wax: adjusts the melting temperature and plasticity of other waxes.
- White: whiter than microcrystalline wax.
- Pastilles: easy to dose.
- Low ash content: less than 0.03% after burnout.
Typical applications
- ✓ Casting wax for the lost-wax process
- ✓ Blending wax to your own recipe, for example with Remet Casting Wax Art Red
- ✓ Your own wax formulations for art casting
Processing
- Melt the wax at approx. 70 °C.
- Pour the wax into an open mould. As a professional caster, you do this under pressure or vacuum to prevent air bubbles.
- Use the wax pattern in the lost-wax process.
- If you want to blend, add the wax to other casting waxes according to your own recipe.
Points to note
- ✓ This wax is not suitable for indoor candles.
- ✓ Never heat the wax above 100 °C. This can permanently change the properties of the wax.
- ✓ Avoid skin contact with molten wax and do not breathe in fumes or smoke.
- ✓ Store the wax cool, dry and frost-free. Stored this way, it keeps for at least 5 years.
