This curing agent works with all condensation-cure silicones. This curing agent is based on tin compounds and may therefore only be used by companies with trained personnel.
For private use, we have developed a tin-free curing agent which we will be offering shortly.
For standard use, the curing agent Condensation B 5% is recommended as Part B.
Processing
Silicone Condensation 20 can easily be mixed by hand or by machine. Mix Part A and Part B carefully and in the specified ratio.
Condensation B 5 = 5%, so for 100 grams of A you use 5 grams of B 5.
You can use 0.5% less or more curing agent. If you use less curing agent, curing takes longer and air bubbles have more time to escape. Make sure not to use too little curing agent, as the silicone may then no longer cure (properly). With more curing agent, curing is faster, so the mould is ready sooner. The disadvantage, however, is that the mould will also age sooner and show more shrinkage.
Process the mixture within the pot life (working time) and never mix more than you can process within the pot life. Wait with demoulding until everything has fully cured.
Please note: pot life (working time) and demoulding time are highly dependent on the mix ratio and humidity! When adding more silicone B (curing agent) or at higher humidity, the pot life and demoulding time become shorter!
Brushing, spreading or spatulating
If you want to spread, spatulate or brush the silicone onto something, you can add Thixo C (0.6%-2%) (usually 1%). Thixo C is a thickener and makes it possible to spatulate the silicone. Please bear in mind that in this case the mould must be provided with a support shell. This support shell can be made of plaster bandage, an epoxy support shell, or acrylic resin with thickener and glass fabric.
Shelf life
Provided the silicone is stored in closed packaging, cool and frost-free, the shelf life is at least 1 year.
Safety requirements
