Lightly volatile silicone fluid for a silky skin feel

Caprylyl Methicone is a clear, colourless synthetic silicone fluid (C₁₅H₃₈O₂Si₃) for skin and hair care and colour cosmetics. With a viscosity of 3 cSt and a specific gravity of 0.84 g/cm³ it spreads easily and gives the skin a light, silky and smooth feel without greasiness. Caprylyl Methicone is moderately volatile, less volatile than cyclopentasiloxanes, and blends well with many oils, esters and waxes.

Processing

1. Add Caprylyl Methicone directly to the oil phase of your formulation.
2. Mix until the product is evenly dissolved or dispersed.
3. Combine it with other silicones or vegetable oils for a non-greasy, non-clumping texture.
4. Mind the solubility: insoluble in water, glycerine, castor oil and candelilla wax. Soluble in, among others, ethanol, mineral oil, isohexadecane, jojoba, almond and sunflower oil, isopropyl myristate, C12-15 alkyl benzoate and capric/caprylic triglycerides.

Points of attention

• ✓ Wear safety goggles, liquid-tight gloves and an apron, and work in a well-ventilated room.
• ✓ Store the product tightly closed in its original container.
