Semi-permanent release agent for multiple releases per application
Chemlease PMR EZ (PMR-90 EZ) by Chem-Trend is a fast-curing, semi-permanent release agent for composite moulds. One application gives multiple releases, with minimal transfer to the moulded part. It is the highest-slip version in the Chemlease PMR family, mainly intended for closed moulding of abrasive parts or parts with low draft. You apply 4 to 5 coats and can start production after 30 minutes. Available in 3.4 kg.
Key benefits
- Easy to apply: with a cotton cloth, no special equipment needed.
- Multiple releases: per application, with minimal transfer to the part.
- High thermal stability: the release layer is very thermally stable.
- Saves time: less frequent reapplication means less labour time and cost.
- HAP-free: HAPs are not formula constituents. Standard manufacturing may result in trace quantities (less than 0.1%).
Typical applications
- ✓ Composite moulds in closed moulding processes
- ✓ Parts with low draft
- ✓ Abrasive parts that need a lot of slip
Application
- Clean the mould surface thoroughly and remove all traces of wax, release agents and sealers, for example with Chemlease Mold Cleaner EZ.
- Apply the appropriate Chemlease sealer to new or porous moulds first.
- Make sure the surface is dry and free of contaminants.
- Moisten a clean cotton cloth (not dripping wet) and wipe on a smooth, continuous film. Cover no more than 0.6 m² at a time.
- When the film starts to evaporate at the edge, wipe the surface dry with a second clean, dry cotton cloth. Work in circular movements from the outside inwards until the film is dry and clear.
- Repeat until the entire mould surface is covered.
- Apply 4 to 5 coats, allowing 15 minutes between each complete coat.
- Allow 30 minutes after the last coat for full cure, then start production.
Points to note
- ✓ The release agent is highly flammable. Do not use a heat source with this product and keep it away from sparks, open flames and hot surfaces.
- ✓ Work in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gloves and eye protection.
- ✓ Store the product between 10 and 35 °C in a tightly closed container to prevent evaporation and contamination. If it has been stored cold, let it reach room temperature before use.
