Premium Investment Casting Plaster for Professional Foundries

HYDRACAST™ M463P is a high-quality core plaster (investment casting material) specially developed for the lost-wax process, featuring extremely high green strength and excellent thermal shock resistance. This professional plaster combines high mechanical strength with versatile applicability for industrial components, art casting, and glass coating, ideal for larger castings with complex cores up to 1100°C. Mixing ratio 100:28 (powder:water) for optimal workability.

    Key Benefits

    • Extremely high green strength: Exceptional mechanical strength immediately after curing for safe handling of large, complex castings
    • Excellent thermal shock resistance: Resistant to rapid temperature changes during burnout and casting up to 1100°C
    • Suitable for larger castings: Specially developed for large, thin-walled castings with difficult cores
    • Versatile applicability: Ideal for industrial components, art casting, glass coating, and non-ferrous alloys
    • Long working time: 23 minutes of casting time for careful processing of complex patterns
    • Optimal density: Slurry density 1.873 g/cm³ at 28% water for perfect detail reproduction

    Typical Applications

    • Lost-wax casting (investment casting) for aluminum and non-ferrous alloys up to 1100°C
    • Art casting and precision casting for statues, sculptures, and decorative objects
    • Industrial components with complex geometries and thin walls
    • Glass coating and ceramic applications
    • Prototyping and rapid manufacturing for metal parts
    • Jewelry casting and fine metalworking (not for magnesium)

    Technical Specifications

    Basic Specifications:

    • Mixing ratio: Powder:Water = 100:28 (by weight)
    • Working time/casting time: 23 minutes
    • Loose bulk density powder: 1.149 g/cm³
    • Compacted bulk density powder: 1.694 g/cm³
    • Slurry density (at 28% water): 1.873 g/cm³
    • Maximum casting temperature: 1100°C
    • Recommended aluminum casting temperature: 280-400°C
    • Shelf life: 12 months under dry conditions

    Conventional mixing procedure:

    1. Determine powder weight and measure temperature
    2. Choose water temperature for slurry temperature of 20°C
    3. Measure water into a clean mixing bowl
    4. Add plaster to water (not vice versa)
    5. Mix by hand for 30 seconds to break up lumps
    6. Machine mix for 4 minutes
    7. Vacuum in bowl (max 3 minutes)
    8. Pour slowly along cylinder wall until wax patterns are covered
    9. Vacuum in cylinder (max 3 minutes)
    10. Allow to stand undisturbed (minimum 2 hours)

Vacuum mixing procedure: Mix under vacuum for 5 minutes, fill flasks in investment chamber, allow a total of 10 minutes under vacuum, let stand for at least 2 hours.

    De-wax and burnout procedure:

    • Steam de-wax in autoclave at max 0.7 bar (10 psi)
    • Place in oven at room temperature, heat to 200°C (max 200°C/hour)
    • Soak at 200°C for 3-4 hours
    • Heat to 700°C (max 100°C/hour)
    • Burnout at 700°C: 5 hours for 25x25x25cm, up to 16 hours for 50x50x50cm
    • Cool to casting temperature at 100°C/hour

Important limitations: Not recommended for metals above 1100°C. Not suitable for magnesium. For higher temperatures, use Crystalcast.

    Our story

Our story began with our father, the founder of Nedform BV. We— Roel, Rutger, and Rob Collaris —are his sons and wanted to bring his passion and knowledge to the online world. That's how SAM (Silicones and More) was born—a creative space for everyone.

Whether you're a beginner, an expert, or an enthusiastic DIYer looking for the right tools, materials, and some guidance, you've come to the right place. We've worked with silicones, resins, and casting materials ourselves for years. That's why we not only deliver quality but also genuine support—based on experience.
