Premium Silicone Thickener for Professional Applications

PlatThix Thickener is a platinum-compatible liquid thickener from Polytek Development Corp., specially developed for use with the PlatSil® 71 and 73 series silicone rubbers. Adding PlatThix increases the viscosity of the liquid rubber, making brush-on blanket molds and vertical applications easy to achieve without run-off.

Key Benefits

Certified skin safe: Polytek has this product independently assessed as skin safe, in accordance with FHSA (16 CFR 1500), LHAMA (16 CFR 1500.14), ASTM D4236 and Sections 201(s) and 409 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
Increased viscosity: Adding up to 5% (by weight) thickens the rubber considerably for brush-on applications.
No effect on cure: Platinum-compatible; does not adversely affect the curing reaction.
Broad applicability: Compatible with all PlatSil® 71 and 73 series products (Shore A10 to A60).
Liquid format: Easy to dose accurately and mix in without lumps.
Stable layer build-up: Enables controlled brush-on layering for thin blanket molds.

Technical Characteristics

Add to the mixed rubber (Parts A+B) or to Part B before mixing. Maximum dosage: 5% of the total mixed weight. Higher dosages may adversely affect curing. Alternatively, Fumed Silica can also be used as a thickener. Always test on a small scale first.

What is the delivery time of my order?

Orders placed and paid for on business days will be shipped on the same day in most cases. Orders received on weekends will be processed on the next business day.
