Description
Silicone Soft Flex 00-35 is a 2-component, platinum-cure (addition-cure) casting silicone that cures at room temperature. Once mixed, the silicone flows well and is easy to process.
Thanks to its short curing time, extremely good stretchability and low hardness, this is an ideal silicone to serve as a skin for robotics, dolls and masks.
This product is colourless and therefore ideal for colouring with silicone pigments and flock.
Processing
Silicone Soft Flex 00-35 can easily be mixed by hand or by machine. Mix components A and B carefully in the specified ratio (100 parts A to 100 parts B). Process the mixture within the pot life and wait until it has fully cured before demoulding. If required, you can accelerate curing by placing the whole in an oven. Note that air bubbles then have less time to escape.
Please note: in its uncured state this silicone is highly irritating to the eyes.
⚠️ What "can be used on skin" does and does not mean
We describe this product as usable on skin. That is explicitly not a statement of skin safety, biocompatibility or suitability for prolonged contact with mucous membranes. We do not use the term skin-friendly as a certification, because no such certification exists at raw material level.
If you are manufacturing a product with prolonged body contact, the assessment sits with you as the manufacturer of the finished article. Have the cured finished product tested by an accredited laboratory, as a minimum to ISO 10993-5 and ISO 10993-10. Contact us if you would like to discuss this.
Additional information
Please note: this is an addition-cure silicone. These silicones can be inhibited by sulphur, nitrogen, amino compounds and metal salts. If you are unsure whether the products you are using (including gloves, spatulas and cups) contain these ingredients, please do a small test first. These substances are found in many latex gloves, some plasticines, paints and adhesives, condensation-cure silicones, 1-component silicone sealants, natural rubbers and 3D printing materials (especially stereolithography). If you still wish to use these, you will need to apply a protective layer of polyvinyl alcohol.
Although the above warning applies to all addition-cure (platinum) silicones, this silicone is far less susceptible to inhibition and can be used in many situations.
Shelf life
Provided the silicone is stored in closed packaging, cool and frost-free, the shelf life is at least 1 year.
Safety requirements
If you work with the silicone frequently, we recommend wearing gloves during processing and ventilating the room well. For safety instructions, please consult the safety data sheet.
