Premium Platinum-Cure Catalyst for Professional Transparent Silicones
Wacker Vario Catalyst Part B is the essential curing agent (catalyst) for the Wacker Elastosil Vario 15 and Vario 40 platinum-cure silicones. Available in two cure speeds – Normal (Catalyst VARIO: 150-minute pot life, demouldable after 6 hours) and Fast (Catalyst VARIO F: 2-minute pot life, demouldable after 15 minutes), both at 23 °C – for maximum flexibility in working time. This high-quality catalyst lets you make translucent, food-safe moulds with minimal shrinkage and excellent mechanical properties. Please note: This is ONLY the Part B component (catalyst) – the Part A component must be purchased separately.

Processing instructions:
- Mix ratio: 10 parts Part A : 1 part Part B (by weight)
- Batch numbers of Part A and Part B do not need to match; all combinations within the VARIO system are interchangeable
- Store between 5 and 25 °C in the closed packaging for a shelf life of at least 1 year
- Wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated room

⚠️ What the compliance statements do and do not say
Wacker states compliance for this product for food contact: EC 1935/2004, BfR XV Silicones (volatiles max. 0.5%, extractables max. 0.5%) and FDA 21 CFR 175.300 and 177.2600. Wacker further declares that phthalates, bisphenols, PVC, PFAS, SCCP, heavy metals, latex and fragrances, among others, are not intentionally added, that the product is not of animal or human origin, is not derived from GMOs and is not irradiated, and that the substances covered by the toy safety standards EN 71-3 and EN 71-9 and by the CPSIA are not intentionally added.
This is not a statement about skin contact or biocompatibility. We do not use the term skin-friendly as a certification, because no such certification exists at raw material level. Wacker itself states that regulatory approval of the ingredients does not mean the finished product is considered safe, and that responsibility for the finished article and for migration, extraction and volatiles testing lies with its manufacturer.
Body contact: the WACKER SILICONES HEALTH CARE POLICY generally does not permit use in contact with genital mucous membranes, generally excludes applications lasting more than 30 days, and assesses contraceptive and reproductive devices case by case. Important Warning: Inhibition of Addition-Cure Silicones
Please note: This is an addition-cure (platinum-cure) silicone. These silicones can be poisoned by sulphur, nitrogen, amine compounds and metal salts. If you are not sure whether the products you are using (including gloves, spatulas and cups) contain these substances, please carry out a small test first. They are found in, among other things, many latex gloves, some plasticines, paints and adhesives, condensation-cure silicones, one-component silicone sealants, natural rubbers and 3D printing materials (especially stereolithography). If you still want to use such materials, you will need to apply a protective layer of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).

According to the Wacker safety data sheet, ELASTOSIL CAT VARIO-F (fast) is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture; no GHS label is required. Spilt product makes floors slippery, and toxic fumes can form in a fire. Work in a well-ventilated area and avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wear nitrile or vinyl gloves and safety glasses. Do not eat, drink or smoke while working and wash your hands afterwards. What is the delivery time for my order?
