Description
Cyclopentasiloxane is a variant of the cyclomethicone category. It's a base fluid used in a number of personal care products, offering excellent spreading, easy rubbing, and lubricating properties, along with unique volatility characteristics.
Application
Antiperspirants, deodorants, hairsprays, cleansing creams, skin creams, lotions and stick products, bath oils, sunscreens and shaving products, makeup, nail polishes.
In sticks, BRB CM50 can provide the right balance between volatility and diversification. BRB CM50 can be used as a volatile carrier and is compatible with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients.

Process
CM 50 can be used alone or mixed with other cosmetic liquids to provide a liquid base for a variety of cosmetic ingredients. It exhibits good solubility in most anhydrous alcohols and many cosmetic solvents.
CM 50 is a volatile substance with a significant vapour pressure at ambient temperature.
Precautionary measures
Caution should be exercised when handling volatile liquids at temperatures 10 °C below the stated flash point.
As with any flammable material, containers should be kept tightly closed and away from heat, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources.

Regulations
Cyclopentasiloxanes such as D4, D5, and D6 have a significant environmental impact. Therefore, formulas containing more than 0.1% of ingredients in stay-on cosmetic products will no longer be permitted from June 2027. This has already been implemented for rinse-off products.
For higher concentrations we recommend looking for alternatives such as very low viscosity silicone oil (dimethicones 0.5 to a maximum of 5 cSt).
Useful life and storage
When stored at or below 25°C in the original, unopened containers, this product has a usable life of 36 months from the date of manufacture. We guarantee the usable life of this product until the date indicated on the packaging.
CM 50 should be stored at 5°C above freezing. If the material does freeze, never use an open flame to melt it.

This product is available in pails, drums, IBCs and tankers.
Limits
This product has not been tested and is not considered suitable for medical or pharmaceutical use.
