Description

BRB PTM 20 is a polyphenylmethylsiloxane that improves the performance of many types of cosmetic formulations. It has excellent solubility in alcohol.

Application

Used as a water-repellent additive and to reduce the tack and stickiness of organic ingredients in formulations such as:

• skin lotions and creams
• sun lotions and sprays
• pre-shave lotions.
• Used as a hair shine agent in hairsprays, conditioners and grooming aids.

Process

BRB PTM 20 is generally used for its gloss.
BRB PTM 20 can be used in antiperspirant or deodorant formulations, where it improves glide properties and reduces stickiness and white residue.
In hair care applications, BRB PTM 20 can be used to generate shine and better manageability and control, it will also reduce drying time.
Using BRB PTM 20 in skin care applications will improve distribution, reduce oiliness and leave a soft, supple feel.
BRB PTM 20 is easily emulsified with standard emulsifiers using conventional techniques.

Solubility

BRB PTM 20 is extremely soluble in 95% ethanol at room temperature. At temperatures as low as 4°C, up to 50% by weight of this liquid can be dissolved in 95% ethanol.
