Premium Clear Epoxy Casting Resin for River Tables, Objects and Pours from 1 to 10 cm
SAM River & Art Epoxy Resin is a clear, colourless two-component epoxy casting resin for casting river tables, objects and larger jewellery with a thickness of 1 to 10 cm per layer. The resin flows well (300–600 mPa·s), runs easily into joints and wood grain and contains a UV blocker. You mix resin and hardener at a ratio of 100:50 by weight and have around 40 minutes of working time. After 18–24 hours at 25 °C the resin has cured, and after 3 days it is fully hard, with a hardness of Shore D 75 and heat resistance up to 80 °C. With experience, you can process up to 60 kg in one go. River & Art can be intensely coloured with epoxy pigments, mica powder or transparent dye for a spectacular result.
Key Benefits
- Casting thickness 1 to 10 cm per layer: one resin for most river tables and objects – fewer layers, less work.
- Up to 60 kg in one go: large volumes in a single pour – provided you work at 18 °C with a wide mixing bucket.
- 40 minutes working time: enough time to mix, colour and pour calmly.
- Clear and colourless with UV blocker: crystal-clear result – the UV blocker reduces yellowing from light.
- Flows well (300–600 mPa·s): fills joints, cracks and wood grain – air bubbles escape more easily.
- Shore D 75 and resistant up to 80 °C: hard, sandable end product suitable for table tops in normal use.
Typical Applications
- River tables, coffee tables and epoxy table tops
- Encapsulating objects, wood and decorative elements
- Larger jewellery, paperweights and art objects
- Filling cracks, knots and holes in wood
- Coasters, trays and wall panels
- Colour effects with pigments, mica and transparent dye
Processing Instructions:
- Make sure the substrate and mould are sealed and not porous, otherwise air bubbles will form. Seal wood first with a thin layer of epoxy. Use a laminating epoxy for pours thinner than 1 cm and a deep pour epoxy for pours thicker than 10 cm per layer.
- Work at room temperature (18–25 °C) and a humidity below 70 %. Keep the temperature constant throughout curing and avoid direct sunlight and draughts, otherwise the surface may deform. Always wear nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Weigh out component A (resin) and component B (hardener) at a ratio of 100:50 by weight, for example 1000 g A to 500 g B.
- Mix thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping the bottom and sides of the mixing cup. If you like, pour the mixture into a second cup and mix again.
- Now add pigment, mica or dye if required and stir again. Let the air bubbles escape for a minute; tapping or vibrating the cup helps. For large quantities, use a bucket with a wide base, as a thick layer of epoxy in the mixing cup heats up quickly.
- Pour the mixture in a thin stream into the mould or prepared model. Remove air bubbles at the surface with a heat gun or a brief flame, but do not use a flame if you have thinned the epoxy with alcohol or another flammable product.
- Leave to cure for 18–24 hours at 25 °C; after 3 days the epoxy is fully cured. Pouring in several layers? Wet on wet: wait until the previous layer is no longer tacky but still takes a fingerprint. Wet on dry: sand the previous layer and make it dust- and grease-free.
Please Note
- Epoxy reacts exothermically: the larger the quantity, the faster and hotter the cure. We advise against processing the maximum 60 kg in one go without experience; if you do, work at 18 °C and expect a very short working time.
- Component A irritates skin and eyes and may cause an allergic skin reaction. Component B is harmful if swallowed or in contact with skin and causes serious eye damage. Avoid all skin contact with both components.
- Work in a well-ventilated room. Vapours may irritate the respiratory tract with prolonged or frequent use; if ventilation is insufficient, use a gas mask with filter type A (resin) and K (hardener).
- Toxic to aquatic life: never rinse residues down the sink and dispose of liquid residues as hazardous waste.
- Store the components tightly closed at 15–25 °C, out of the reach of children. Stored this way, they keep for at least 12 months.
